Simpler Hair Color for Men - Full Gray Coverage Dye Kit, Dark Brown

I’ve tried just about every type of beard and hair dye out there. I’ve used the brush-in dyes that you have to mix in a bowl and time perfectly so they don’t turn your face purple. I’ve used the shampoo dyes you rub in dry and the ones you apply to wet hair in the shower. I’ve even tried the hair darkening bars. While I don’t think a perfect hair and beard dyeing solution exists, Simpler is the best I’ve used. Let me explain why. For starters, you don’t need to mix anything. The dye and developer come out of the can together; you apply it straight to the brush, and comb it into your hair or beard. It’s also nice that I can do my beard and hair at the same time if I need to - it’s designed for both. Whatever they put in this product is easier on my skin than other dyes I’ve used. I’ve never really had any major reactions to any dyes, but Simpler causes little to no skin irritation for me, and some other products itch for a day or two after use. I can control the shade by leaving the dye in longer, without worrying about staining my face. And the result is quite natural-looking. As I mentioned, it’s not perfect, but I haven’t found a dye that is. Most dyes, including this one, don’t work well on very short sections of beard or stubble. So if you want to get fancy with your beard and really mow down the sideburns, you won’t see great results on the stubble - at least I never do. But follow the directions and you shouldn’t be disappointed. And if you happen to have a problem, I can say Simpler’s customer service is quite good. I had a defective can once (the developer wouldn’t evenly dispense), and they quickly replaced it at no cost. Speaking of cost, it’s reasonably priced. Ounce for ounce, it costs about the same as the kits you buy at the store, but I believe you can get a better deal by signing up for a subscription service on their website.

I’ve been using Simpler Hair Color for over a year and have always been happy with the results. the application is easy and the color usually covers my gray very well. Unfortunately, this last time was different. The color didn’t stick properly, and about half of my gray hair was still visible after processing exactly as directed. I didn’t change anything in my routine, so I’m not sure if the formula has changed or if I received a bad batch. I’ve really liked this product in the past, but this experience was disappointing. I’m hoping this was just a one-time issue because consistency is very important when it comes to hair color.

I have tried soooo many beard dyes over this last year, even those that say they won’t irritate your skin or leave red rash etc. but those and all others have left my face irritated, and it with a weird color that doesn’t match what it says. This Simpler hair dye is Amazing!!! Zero face or skin irritation, and the color is spot on, I even follow the time frames they give to leave in to I can achieve darker when left in longer or keep a little salt and pepper when left in for about 5 or so mins less. Plus the brush applicator works so perfect, and the single bottle last for a Ton of applications on my particular beard and takes but a minute or two to apply. Finally have found the product I’ll be using forever moving forward to keeps some sense of youth LOL Thank you for a great product finally that works perfect for me and makes a bit younger I apply it. Not a pro here...and certainly not getting paid for this review. This stuff is really as advertised. Guys over 50, it works. Does not stain the skin from what I can tell & I leave it in a long while. It's way too expensive compared to just getting similar at local beauty supply, but it does work.

I’ve been using this product for over a year now, and I discovered it after spotting a friend at Starbucks with an incredibly natural-looking beard, while i knew him from the gym with gray. When I asked him what he used, he recommended this—then it wasn't in Amazon, i find their site, start on it, and I haven’t looked back since. Before switching, I used those generic dye boxes from CVS, but you could spot them a mile away—they made it obvious I dyed my beard. This product, on the other hand, has three major advantages: It lasts much longer than store-bought box dyes, which saves me money in the long run. It’s clean and easy to apply. No mess, no fuss. Most importantly, it looks completely natural. No one has ever guessed I dye my beard. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a reliable, natural-looking solution!

I have been a “Just For Men” user for about 12 years. While JFM works, it is messy and irritating to the skin. My beard is now totally white, so I was happy to find an alternative product in “Simpler Hair Color” for men. It is pre-mixed and easy to apply. I apply it with my hands using disposable gloves, since I use the product on both my hair and beard. It requires about a half hour time frame to fully cover the grey, but only really needs to be done every 3-4 weeks. It is not irritating to the skin and has no unpleasant odors. While it does seem expensive, I am able to get about four applications per-box. I am thankful to have a non-irritating but very effective product to color my grey. Don’t hesitate to try it!

Horrible experience—this product caused a severe reaction on my face. I applied it around 7:00 pm exactly according to the directions. I left it on for 25 minutes, then rinsed it off in the shower with soap and water. At about 3:30 am, I woke up with intense burning in my beard/mustache area. My bottom lip had swollen to about twice its normal size and felt numb. I immediately tried washing again with soap and water, but it didn’t help. Soon after, I saw yellowish fluid oozing from my skin. That’s when I realized this wasn’t a minor irritation—it was getting serious fast. I shaved off all facial hair to try to remove any remaining product, but I still had to dab the fluid off my skin constantly; it would run down my chin and drip. I ended up seeking medical care. The doctor prescribed prednisone and an antibiotic cream and warned me about the risk of infection. This wasn’t just uncomfortable—it disrupted my life. I lost a half day of work and missed a family event. I’m on day 3 as I write this and I’m still dealing with inflammation, numbness and oozing in multiple areas. I have to wear a face mask with a medical pad underneath just to be able to return to work. At least three layers of skin have peeled off in my beard area, and I honestly don’t know yet whether I’ll be able to regrow my beard/mustache. I have no known allergies, so this reaction was a first for me. The manufacturer was going to issue a refund, but I don’t see that yet. I also replied back with photos showing how serious this was—and explaining that medical treatment was required—I never heard back. If you’re considering this product, please be extremely cautious. My experience was frightening, painful, and far beyond what anyone should expect from a consumer product used as directed.

Some feedback that hopefully gets read by the maker. • Most of the time the mixed foam comes out inconsistent, this is not good as it covers some parts and some it doesn’t. I would recommend a double pump or something to get the same amounts of color and developer. • The brush is very stiff and that makes the foam stuck in between and very difficult to get it out and make use of all the product. Maybe making it semi-flexible would solve that. • The product is expensive when compared to other ones in the market like Polar hair care or Meidu 3 in 1 semi permanent hair color shampoo. • The color doesn’t last much. I found the brands mentioned above last more much longer. Maybe improving the formula will make it last? • The only thing I found solid is that it’s easy to apply without being messy. If the product gets improved in those fronts I would give it more stars for sure.
