It helps teach the grand kids basic circuits and how Bluetooth works. The step by step instructions were straight forward and easy to read. The screws are a bit small so it was a little hard to start them so we rubbed the tip of the screwdriver gently on the speaker magnet to magnetize tip to make the screws attach to the tip to make them easier to start. Another plus how magnets work. At the end we were all astonished by the reception and sound quality of both speaker and FM radio. Review: Nostalgia for today's generation - I got this kit to build with my soon to be 10 years old grandson. Since transistor radios are pretty much a thing of the passed, I wasn't sure if he would show much interest in it. Was I wrong! He had a difficult time waiting until I got to his house to help him. He took all the pieces out and set them up to the directions. It took about 20 minutes to build and he couldn't wait to use. He has not stopped using the radio all week, and he is getting very excited to build the Bluetooth speaker the next time I come to visit. The best part of this whole process was being able to work with him and see the smile on his face. When we turn the radio on and it actually worked! He also enjoyed caring about how we used transistor radios when we were young and how important they were to us. I think it's great that this generation gets an opportunity to see how the previous generations had different items than their generation has. This was definitely money well spent and I highly recommend the packaged kit. ## Features - STEM Radio and Speaker Kits: Build your own functional radio and a stereo speaker from real circuit boards, speaker, and wooden panels. I gave it to her as a christmas present. Her mind was blown. she couldn't believe that it was going to work and it was something that she could put together. The instructions are kind of basic, but at the same time not really. It's important that the child look at the photos and the text of the instructions. A lot of information is delivered in the photo that isn't necessarily put in text. Which is similar to lego instructions. She connected all the wires, and I soldered the connections for reliability and sound quality. The only critique of the product is that the sound the bluetooth speaker makes when it is turned on and again when paired is very loud. The volume is completely controllable once the device is paired. The radio is pretty cool too, it works great. It's an added bonus if the child lives in a big city. There are literally hundreds of radio stations for the child to listen to. ## Frequently Bought Together - STEM Toys Building Kits for Kids Ages 8-12 14-16 Birthday Gifts for 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 Years Old Boys Girls Teens Bluetooth Speaker DIY FM Radio Science Experiments Engineering Circuits - Difficult Riddles For Smart Kids: 300 Difficult Riddles And Brain Teasers Families Will Love (Thinking Books for Kids) - Flipslide Game - Electronic Handheld Game | Addictive Multiplayer Puzzle Game of Skill | Flip, Slide & Match Colors to Beat the Clock | 4 Thrilling Game Modes | Ages 8+ | Includes Batteries --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/676033477-stem-toys-for-ages-8-13-boys-birthday-return-gifts](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/676033477-stem-toys-for-ages-8-13-boys-birthday-return-gifts) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
