This Stem kit is super fun to build.. It helps teach the grand kids basic circuits and how Bluetooth works. The step by step instructions were straight forward and easy to read. The screws are a bit small so it was a little hard to start them so we rubbed the tip of the screwdriver gently on the speaker magnet to magnetize tip to make the screws attach to the tip to make them easier to start. Another plus how magnets work. At the end we were all astonished by the reception and sound quality of both speaker and FM radio.

I got this kit to build with my soon to be 10 years old grandson. Since transistor radios are pretty much a thing of the passed, I wasn't sure if he would show much interest in it. Was I wrong! He had a difficult time waiting until I got to his house to help him. He took all the pieces out and set them up to the directions. It took about 20 minutes to build and he couldn't wait to use. He has not stopped using the radio all week, and he is getting very excited to build the Bluetooth speaker the next time I come to visit. The best part of this whole process was being able to work with him and see the smile on his face. When we turn the radio on and it actually worked! He also enjoyed caring about how we used transistor radios when we were young and how important they were to us. I think it's great that this generation gets an opportunity to see how the previous generations had different items than their generation has. This was definitely money well spent and I highly recommend the packaged kit.

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter. I gave it to her as a christmas present. Her mind was blown. she couldn't believe that it was going to work and it was something that she could put together. The instructions are kind of basic, but at the same time not really. It's important that the child look at the photos and the text of the instructions. A lot of information is delivered in the photo that isn't necessarily put in text. Which is similar to lego instructions. She connected all the wires, and I soldered the connections for reliability and sound quality. The only critique of the product is that the sound the bluetooth speaker makes when it is turned on and again when paired is very loud. The volume is completely controllable once the device is paired. The radio is pretty cool too, it works great. It's an added bonus if the child lives in a big city. There are literally hundreds of radio stations for the child to listen to.

This was supposed to be a Christmas gift for my daughter. Her mom opened the package early and my child put it together. This review was meant to be written After Christmas :) My daughter used to like these little STEM projects but has shown little interest recently. So I found this one, the radio, and I knew she would flip out And she did!! Against my wishes, she's a modern kid, growing up on an iPad. So this is her first radio Her complaint right away were the instructions, she hated them. She said it was hard to read and the instructions are pixelated She had a little bit of trouble putting it together but she managed. She fell in love with the radio! She listened to it every day for a week. She's very much into crafts so she drew and painted all over ii She was very proud of herself and genuinely happy to put her first radio together. Now the surprise. I didn't read close enough. I thought this was just for the radio, I didn't know it came with a 2nd speaker. So that was a nice little surprise for the money! She put it together but likes her radio more It's a thin wood, it's not the best quality but it should last if they take care of it. My little girl is 10 and she loved this project. She had fun, beyond the instructions, and we all love the cute little size. Some stem projects are bulky.

The radio was pretty easy to put together. My son enjoyed it. It is tiny and not visually impressive, but the sound quality is quite good, much better than expected. The speaker is less good - harder to construct and not as good a sound. I especially like that my son has started listening to local radio stations instead of streaming everything. Radio gets five stars.

Bought this set for my son for part of his Valentine’s Day Gift, and it was a huge hit! My son is 11 and in 6th grade, and often talks about wanting to be an engineer. This was perfect for his skill level and ideologies! Great gift idea, and value for the money! Both units, the Bluetooth Speaker and the Radio are small in size but just right for child use! Have I mentioned that the sound of both is great!! My son loves them and is very proud for having built them. The directions are easy to understand and colorful!
