Coghlan's Bear Bell with Magnetic Silencer

This is a nice sturdy bell and the tinkle is not too high-pitched so it doesn't hurt my sensitive ears. I bought it so that I could hear where my dog is when I can't see her, but it didn't work very well for that purpose. I stop being able to hear the bell long before she is out of sight, and on her return I usually see her before I hear the bell.She wears a reflective jacket so that I can spot her in the distance or between trees and bushes and that is so useful that I wouldn't let her off the lead without it. However, I only used the bell a couple of times before realising that it didn't do the job I wanted it to.It was designed to alert wildlife to the presence of the dog and I am sure that it does that very well, the ears of bears (not in UK of course) and other animals being sharper than mine and it is well made so I have given 5 stars.

Already have one, but got this as a spare! The Velcro fastener becomes less effective over time. So rather than keep putting on and taking off, I have a collar just for the bell! And slid it through!It gives me a little more confidence in letting my hound off, obviously within a reasonable distance I can hear him! But part of thinks that it would also alert the local wildlife (deer’s) to his presence!

I've used a falconry bell on my dog previously until I discovered this bear bell. It's a deeper sound but carries further allowing me to track my Vizsla's whereabouts when he's off lead in the bushes. I also like the magnetic strip that allows you to (more or less) silence the bell when not needed. The only thing I'd like to see is a stronger Velcro used as whilst the bell is attached well to the Velcro I don't feel overly happy that we won't lose the bell due to it being solely reliant on the Velcro to attach it to the collar.

The bear bells are brilliant, I have finally found a stronger bell for my Labrador to wear when out on country walks as I was given advice by locals that the sound vibration from the bell prevents my dog getting bitten by any snakes basking in the summer sunshine!! I have tried large falconry bells but the constant movement makes them slowly open up and break. These bells are made of sterner stuff and hopefully will stand the test of time. Would definitely recommend to all dog owners. Well worth the money and if the ringing gets to you they come with a little magnet strap that holds back the pea!! Absolutely brilliant

Can not get the Velcro fastener to silence bell

I use these bells for my German Pointers who got into the habbit of finding deer in the woods and then giving chase, lucky they will always break the chase when i use a dog whistle. These bells stop the need for that as they give the deer enought notice to hide or move on and since the dogs have had the bells on their collars they have not been able to find a single deer. The bells are well made and make a good sound (as long as this does not bother your dogs which it doesnt seem to with mine). A few people have said they lost the bells after a couple of days due to the velcro coming undone - I got round this by glueing the velcro fasten together and then i just thread the collor through the loop of the bell when I'm taking to dog out. My dogs wear these everytime they go out now and I have had a lot of comments from people saying what a good idea it is as it gives the wild life a chance when walking such quick dogs. Plus the beaty of these is when I get back to the car you just pull the magnetic tab over the bells and they cant ring anymore so they dont annoy you while driving. Very good product.

These are the best dog bells on the market. Have bought in every colour. They sound like a Swiss cow bell and are fabulous for a few reasons : Secure velcro fastener that stays on. Warning to other animals (all cat owners take note pls put bells on your cats so birds can escape their teeth. Great if dog is off sniffing in bushes you can hear him. They look fab but I don't have them just for appearance - these are necessary for a multitude of reasons. 10/10 - shall keep buying.

I bought this to keep track of my dog, nothing Bear related.It's well made and attachs easily and effectively.Just one tidy gripe, it's not as loud as l expected so if my dog is in the woods l struggle to hear it sometimes.Can't comment on its effectiveness on bears as there aren't many in Somerset.

Bought these because a bear has been coming into our yard the last couple of weeks.. Last one was standing on the deck when we took the dog out at night.. He was checking out the BBQ.. So.. Bells on US, and Bells on the Poodle.. and the BBQ us moved from the house.. and so far. we have not seen the bear anywhere! Nice and loud.. the dog doesn't like the sound but he is getting used to it..
