I bought this as something different to do leading up to Christmas, and it ended up being one of my favorite little holiday traditions! Each “day” has a clever mini mystery or puzzle to solve that ties into a bigger storyline. It feels like you’re actually piecing together clues in a detective case, but without it being overly complicated or frustrating. The puzzles vary — some are logic-based, some visual, and a few really make you think. I loved that it wasn’t just mindless fluff, but still totally doable after a long day. I usually worked on a page with my coffee in the morning, and it was such a cozy way to start the day during December. The design and presentation are really nice too, it feels more like an interactive storybook than a typical advent calendar. If you like escape rooms, murder mysteries, or just want something more creative than candy or chocolate for the countdown to Christmas, I highly recommend this. Would definitely buy another one next year if they release a new version!

Ok if you like solving puzzles, not exactly fun

This was a really fun book to do with the family. 1 chapter a day. We enjoyed it.

I tried a few “interactive” puzzle books, and most are either too hard or too easy. This one has the perfect balance. The mysteries are smart, the puzzles are well designed, and the whole experience feels festive and rewarding. It’s fun to see how each clue connects to the next, and I found myself really proud when I figured something out without hints.
