Is there a truly significant difference between the Viper and, say, Monarch 5 binoculars in terms of quality?

I am not familiar with Monarch but I can tell you that Vortex quality, both build and optical, is top notch..their warranty is also great! They say simply 'if it’s broke we want to fix it, we don't care where you bought or how it got broken we'll fix it free'. Even if you bought at a garage sale they'll still fix it. As far as optics the only thing I’ve found that I thought was better was Swarovski but at $4000 they were out of my budget.

Do they still come with a lifetime warranty?

Yes, they do. If you watch the video that is on the Amazon page, they state at the end that they are covered for a lifetime warranty.

Does this come with case and strap?

Yes. Neck strap and shoulder strap.

Are this pair suitable for viewing aero show performance besides bird watching?

Hello, Id go for the lower magnification for that. With the aircraft moving so fast it may be hard to keep the focus as fast as they are, but it is doable.
