What is the difference between the dosage of this iron 25mg and ferrous iron at 325mg, why such a big difference? Would I need 13 caps of this iron?

Hi there, ferrous sulfate is often prescribed at doses of 325 mg, which a rather archaic way of prescribing iron. The elemental amount of iron in that dose is approx 68 mg. The amount of elemental iron in the Iron Extra is 25 mg per capsule, and the dose is 1-3 caps per day . So, if you take 3 caps (take with food), you'd fulfill your iron prescription and with more gentle forms of iron over the sulfate form which tends to be problematic for people. Hope this helps!

How quickly does this work to make you not tired?

This entirely depends on you and why you are tired. I could notice a difference within the first week but I had been prescribed this by a doctor after a blood test.

Does it contain folic acid?

Per the ingredients listed above it contains Methylfolate and also methylcobalamin (B12) which are the bioavailable forms. It does not contain synthetic Folic acid.

Why does Vitanica put calcium in this iron supplement? Calcium inhibits the absorption of both heme and non-heme iron.

I’m so glad you brought this point up, It’s really irritating when companies put Calcium in an iron supplement! There’s no need for it, they just like to use a cheap for of Vitamin C (calcium ascorbate or ascorbic acid) when they should be using a natural Vitamin C derived from Acerola or Camu Camu or Amla berries. I will not buy this product unless they take the calcium out.
