In the late 1970s, I used a product similar to this called a "hot pick" to straighten my hair out to get the "blowout" look. I used to walk around with that puffed up afro that was in style back then when I was in high school. One day as an undergraduate, a friend gave me a haircut on campus after I had used the hot pick to straighten my hair in the blowout. When I went back to take a shower afterwards, I was astounded to feel how naturally curly my hair was. The curls were especially pronounced because my hair had been cut evenly as a result from being blown out. Now just before I get a haircut, I use this hot pick to straighten my hair so that the haircut is even. The result? A haircut resulting in my naturally curly hair being quite pronounced. Excellent product for that purpose.

I bought this product hoping to comb my hair out and give it some good volume. This thing works about as well as a regular $2 pick. It didn't even get hot, even with the temperature at max. I'm very disappointed and expected better. Great concept, terrible product.

I bought two a couple of years ago one gets hotter than the other. So there is product variability. Also bought in 70's. The newer product is safer but it does not get hot enough fast enough Need better temperature control

I use this product for my TWA. Works like the old electric Afro pick from the 60's and 70's! ; ) The size is a little awkward and the handle is a little long to maneuver on my head. It probably works fine for beards because you hold the handle differently.

Purchased this item and after 3 uses product has failed. I contacted seller since the item is outside of Amazon’s return window. The seller told me that the item is also outside of the one year manufacturers warranty also. Mind you I’ve used this item three times for personal use. The item still looks new. It’s not neglected or abused. The seller emailed me and told me to put some tape on the wire to correct the problem. They didn’t even offer to repair the item. Beware of this company and their products. Further more, if this is a black owned company I would expect better. And if it’s not black owned I find it insulting as to the name of the product and its marketing. ***Think***
