I really love Revlon Color Silk! My gray hair is gone, and it left it looking shiny and refreshed. The color came out beautiful and even. Great color, great coverage, and a great price!

True to its color very pretty tone

For Reference: Before using this product, I had a faded metallic pink permanent box of hair dye on top of L'Oreal Colorista bleach and 2 boxes of Color Oops! I didn't like the colour it came out and decided to go black to being box dye black. I've only ever used 2 black box dyes in my life: The Revlon Permanent Hair Colour, and the Schwarzkopf Simply Colourful. I only tried the Schwarzkopf because it was on sale, and it performed slightly worse compared to this hair dye and smelled awful. 1. Shipping: This had a very long shipping time considering it's a small cardboard box inside a plastic bag. I ordered it on March 8th and received it on March 13th. I have Prime shipping, so I imagine it would be an even longer shipping time if you didn't. 2. Packaging: It was very plain packaging, which could be improved upon. It was in a plastic mailer with the Amazon Prime logo, and inside was the box itself. I think there should be a little bubble wrap or something like that to protect the inside of the bag if something were to get tossed around while shipping. 3. Quality: This is my favourite black hair dye. As you can see, it completely covered the pink and left no traces. My hair is reminiscent of the black holes I played in as a child. The after-colour conditioner is my holy grail- it smells like Jolly Ranchers and left my hair healthier, softer, and shinier than before colouring, which is rare to find with any box dye. (I will note my hair is exceptionally stubborn and refuses to be long-term damaged by chemicals. I hope this remains.) 4. Value: Here is why I took the star off. I didn't know they retailed this at my local Wal-Mart, which sells this for $3.97. It was $5.86 from this retailer, which is nearly two dollars more. This doesn't seem like a large amount, but if you're going to dye your hair black routinely, I recommend this brand, not this retailer. Overall, I rate this 4 stars. I love this product, but it was an excessive shipping time considering it was Prime and cost 2 dollars more than the same product at my Wal-Mart.

Revlon is the most affordable among all the brands and I always buy them. I have tried other more expensive brands, and I do not notice too much differences. However, this specific color and its final effect (hair color) is my favorite, even though this color is the least lasting among the colors i have tried (brown and black last longer). This reddish color usually will be very visible for a bit more than one month and it tends to turn brown afterwards . If you want this reddish color to continue, the only option is to buy a new box and apply it again. For grey coverage, I have black hair, I left the mixture on longer than the instruction, I will let it go to 45 or even an hour. Then it covers the grey and turns it reddish. If you have really long hair, longer than the waist, then you will need two boxes for covering all of them. Washing the dye off will require lots of water and even after long washing, in the shower, the next two days, I saw bath water turn red still so if you have white pillows, best to use black or dark color pillow case right after you dye or you might stain your pillow. The smell was not good but i do not believe there is a good smell dye, at least not that I am aware of. I can stand it but my family always notice it cause they can smell it as well. It does make your hair more dry but I have no choice. I rather have dry hair than grey visible hair. So pricing is 5 star, smell is 1 star, and color coverage is 4 star, preserve hair health and moisture is 2 star so you do the math. There are still a lot of improvements the hair dye industry can strive for.

This is a good hair dye. Been using for years. Hard to find this color in stores.
