I am brown skin with sensitive skin, and this has worked really well for me. Since my skin can be reactive, I don’t use it as a leave-on exfoliant. Instead, I apply it to a cotton pad, gently wipe it all over my face, leave it on for a couple of minutes, and then rinse it off. This routine has been much gentler on my skin while still giving me great results. I especially like using it around my nose, where I tend to get blackheads and clogged pores. After wiping the area, I often notice a residue on the cotton pad, which I assume is a combination of excess oil (sebum) and other surface buildup that has been lifted away. My nose feels noticeably smoother and cleaner afterward, and over time I’ve found it helps keep that area looking clearer. Even using it this way, I’ve noticed smoother skin overall and fewer small bumps without causing irritation. Purchased smallest bottle . Works better than anticipated. Have had issues with nose and chin pore size and accompanying blackheads for decades. Previous products (tried many) overly dried my skin and did zero to shrink pores. Have used for one week and can see a noticeable difference, particularly on my nose. Smaller pores and smooth skin! Happy with usage results, though deducted one star for bottle top design. Semi-difficult to get product out of the container. Found that using a Q-tip and pressing directly against opening has given the best results. Will likely repurchase.

I have used products that are either too weak to notice any difference or so strong that my skin peels so badly that I'm embarrassed to leave my home. Paula's liquid exfoliant is absolutely amazing! It goes on like water and my initial impression was that it would do nothing. In fact, after my first (and literally every application since), I've been shocked at the improvement in my skin. Last week, I ran out of Paula's and decided to use my old tretinoin before bed. The next morning, my skin was coming off like a snake's skin in layers! It was so embarrassing that I actually called in sick to work, because my skin looked so horrible! I immediately ordered more of Paula's exfoliant. I had yet to venture out of my home, as my skin was coming off in literal sheets! And my face itched! If I scratched it, my skin would flake off like the worst dandruff anyone had ever seen. I was so embarrassed that I called in sick again that day. Thankfully, the Paula's exfoliation liquid came in that afternoon. I immediately applied it, and I reapplied it before bed that night. The following morning, my skin looked perfect! No more flaking or peeling off in sheets. No more itching. Paula's Skin Perfecting Exfoliant is both incredibly gentle and incredibly powerful! I honestly don't know how it can be so perfectly both gentle and powerful, but I will never go without it again. In fact, I'm buying it again today because of Prime Day and it's on sale. I wish I could afford to buy 50 refills now. I'm seldom this effusive in my praise, but I feel far more strongly about how fantastic this product is than I've been able to express here.

I preface this with saying that my comments are about how this product was for me, and it may work differently or wonderfully for someone else. I was a user of a product called "The Ordinary", and that product was the same (2%) as this one, but more like a serum. I tried this one based on the reviews. I dislike the bottle and the way the product comes out. It's a thinner liquid, and can be messy. You do have to pour it into your hand, and work it onto your face from there, so some product gets wasted. I did not find this product to me more remarkable than the other I used, and I've given it a fair shot (months of using). I wrote the manufacturer about the packaging, and they responded politely. I don't think it will change though unless others say something. I'll finish this bottle since I paid for it, and will go back to the other product, as the serum is placed on my skin with a dropper, and is not messy or wasted. Hopefully others have a better experience.

I am almost 40 and have had acne since puberty. I have tried so many products. The products that showed some improvement (like Proactiv) changed the texture of my face. Literally made my face feel like a basketball. I’ve tried some products that I’ll notice an improvement after a week or so, and the it would just stop working. I have never used something that so drastically helped my face in such a short amount of time. Notably, within 5 days my blemishes were almost gone. Within a week, my chin felt smooth instead of feeling the bumps of every clogged pore. The discoloration of my face, such as the redness, hasn’t totally disappeared, but it is improving. My face doesn’t feel oily throughout the day. My skin feels tighter, like I got a facelift. Moisturizer along with this product is important. And it is important to follow the directions and start slowly with this product. Use it every other day for the first week, gradually working your way up to daily and then twice a day. It is a shock to your skin and can dry it out if you go overboard. But for what I needed this product for, it has exceeded my expectations in every way. I couldn’t recommend it more. Just a heads up, it is applied like a toner. I expected a face wash, but it is a liquid that you apply to cotton and rub on your face. I wash with CeraVe SA cleanser, follow it with this, and apply whatever moisturizer you prefer—I’ve been using moisturizer with SPF so as to not damage my skin more than I already have.

It’s great for when my skin feels congested after a few days of wearing makeup, I use it around 2 times a week and over time it’s really helped my skin feel smoother and have less blemishes. I bought a mini one to take when I travel or stay at my partners, this is really useful!

Amazing product! The progress with this takes a few months ...but please be patient! At 33 years old I never thought I’d be free from breakouts and scarring from cystic hormonal type acne. Started using once a day on a cotton pad at night. Skin will sting a tad & be slightly flaky to start after a few days. Skin may “purge” spots as pores are unclogged but this will calm down - trust me! Once skin becomes flaky I then reduced to use all over my face every 3 days, but everyday along my jawline and neck. I follow with a light oil free moisturiser. Honestly, I have used around 2 bottles in 8 months and I get minimal spots now, and they heal very quickly. Any inflammation comes up and I pop a dab of this on! Skin also feels so smooth too. This is a real review!!! It could change your life!!
