Very fast! Update: more problems.
I ordered 2 of these cards for use in a Nikon D7000 after reading that this camera would use the new standard that the Extreme Pro cards have. When shooting my first shoot, I had issues with card errors when shooting monster trucks in both photo and video modes.I got a hold of Amazon and VERY QUICKLY they sent out two new cards. I installed them in the camera, formatted them and started shooting. Absolutely no problems so far. Put the camera on continuous high (6 frames per second) and leaned on the shutter. After 61 images without a slowing down at all, I stopped shooting. The cards are very fast! I would recommend these cards to anyone that has a device that can use the new standard to get the speed out of them. The are backwards compatable, so they should work in any device that will use SDHC SD cards.Update: 10/8/2011 I am having the same problem with these cards as I was having with the previous same cards I sent back. It seems that my Nikon D7000 doesn't like them. They work fine for awhile, then error out. I'm wondering if they are not compatible with the newest version of the cameras firmware. I am running the newest firmware via Nikon, which is v1.02. May have to send these back and get something else.

Compatibility issues with Macbook Pro!!!
While the card is very fast when used with my Canon Rebel T2i, I have had an issue with getting my Macbook Pro (Early 2011) to read this card. This computer supports SDHC cards up to 32GB and SDXC cards up to 2TB with a direct PCIe connection.I contacted the SanDisk Extreme support dept. in February and was told that a fix was on the way for this issue and in the mean time to use the usb port on my camera to transfer my photos. They still havent come out with a fix(late June now), put up a knowledgebase article, written a disclaimer, or attempted to contact me further. In fact their site still says this product is "Compatible with all SDHC(tm) and SDHC(tm) UHS-I supporting host devices"I paid for a high speed card so i wouldn't have to wait half an hour to transfer my photos over USB!! If i wanted to do that, I would have paid ~$5 for 8GB of slow storage instead of ~$40 for a high speed premium product!Just my two cents, but I feel like SanDisk should take care of its customers who pay a premium for better products.I feel as if I had been lied to by this company, as i do a fair amount of research on all my online purchases and when making important purchasing decisions, i do not like surprises. From now on ill go with high speed cards from other manufacturers.

SanDisk Extreme Pro
Typically, package camera deals including flash ram provide a slow cheap card that is the bottleneck for rapid image transfer rates. The majority of camera reviews utilize a card with the fastest read/write transfer rates available to show off the camera's maximum picture-taking ability. As an example, a camera with the capability of taking three images per second is limited by buffer size (camera internal memory) if the memory card is slow in accepting the data from the camera buffer. After a few pictures the buffer is full and everything slows down waiting for the buffer to write to the slow card. The SanDisk Extreme Pro has a fast write speed at a reasonable cost, which allows the camera buffer to dump data to the card as it receives it. With this card a camera can maintain its design image taking speed. Amazon provided me a GENUINE SanDisk SD card at a reasonable price several days after purchase. There is no point in purchasing a quality camera with the latest image and video capability if that speed is strangled by slow card.

Great performance in a Nikon D7000 even though it doesn't come close to the advertised speed of 45 MB/s
This is a fantastic high-performance SD Card. The catch is that you need a device that can take advantage of it. Right now my Nikon D7000 is the only device I own where I notice a difference between this SD Card and other SD Cards. So I don't get 45MB/s or even close to that when I test it but I am able to get almost 4 fps out of my camera once the buffer is full. They key thing here is that compared with other cards it's fantastic. Whether it lives up to the claimed performance is another story which is why it only gets 4 stars from me. Performance in camera is just a notch better than the other SanDisk Cards like the HD Video 30 MB/s or the Extreme III SDHC 30 MB/s.

Not sure its measurably better than slower class cards
I purchased this card for use in my Nikon D7000 camera, which is one of the few devices that can utilize the faster speed of a Class UHS-1 card. As a casual photogragher however, I do not see faster read/write speeds than using the slower and cheaper Class 4 card in my second memory slot. I also do not see a speed improvement with this UHS-1 card when downloading the JPEGs to my PC.I've been happy with SanDisk cards in the past, but I have some problems reading this UHS-1 card. 3 PC's (running Vista) in my home can read this card, but one of my PC's (running XP) cannot. The XP PC reads all other SD and SDHC cards however. I'm not sure if this is a Windows version problem, but if it is, its not worth upgrading the O/S just to read a $35 memory card.Overall, this seems like a decent card, I just don't see any measurable improvment over my slower and cheaper class 4 card.

Use with Canon XSi SLR camera
So previously I was using two other memory cards with my camera. Canon XSi SLR.A cheapo 8 gig SD card. Basically the cheapest you can get. My testing was simple. Hold shutter button for 6 shots and then wait for red light to go out.Cheapo card = 20 - 22 sec to stop writing. There was the 2 gig that came with the camera.12 sec to stop writingThis new memory card5.5 - 6 seconds it was hard to tell since it was so stinking fast!So yea this card is DRASTICALLY faster than my cheapo card and nearly twice as fast as the included card. This is shooting in Raw BTW.Once the first 6 shots are done the card basically writes fast enough that it will continue shooting at about 1 shot per sec and the card will just continue at that rate.

Blisteringly fast
I'm a Nikon D7000 and D90 shooter and have been using Sandisk SD cards with speeds of 30 mb/s until recently. Those 30 mb/s cards work great on my D90 but on my D7000, shooting 12-bit RAW means files of 15MB and upwards so I needed something faster, especially when shooting at a party or event when I can take a lot of shots very quickly. Also, the D7000 has dual memory card slots so I shoot to slot 1 and slot 2 automatically backs up my shots. As each shot is written twice, I needed SD cards which were fast to clear the buffer as quickly as possible. This card is just the trick - I now have four of these 8GB cards and they are incredibly fast. I can take multiple shots in quick succession and the buffer clears in no time.At Β£20 or so, these are an absolute bargain for anyone (pro, amateur, beginner) with a modern DSLR.My slower cards continue to see good use on my D90 for which they are fine. But my D7000 will only ever be used with these cards from now.Superb SDHC card and typically great prices and delivery speeds from Amazon.

Fast, but only with the latest gear, and reliable, but at a cost.
I take a lot of photos using a DSLR (currently a Pentax K5) and have always found SanDisk Extreme memory cards to be reliable. This one is no exception (so far!!). Speed is the other big factor, of course, but you will not achieve the claimed 45MB/s with this card unless the device you are using it with is equipped with the new UHS bus (which mine isn't). However the card is fully backward compatible with SDHC high speed and seems to perform comparably to a class-10 30MB/s card. While the price of this card remains roughly what I paid for it, with (at the time) only a small premium over the equivalent SDHC/HS/class-10, I see that the cost of the 8GB SDHC 30MB/s class-10 cards has since fallen considerably. So, if you anticipate using this card only with older equipment, the extra cost is probably not now worth it.

Cannot format this card !!
****** Update *****It turns out the card was not the problem. It was the card reader that was the problem. I tried another card reader and that fixed the problem and could read it from my PC.I also found that if you have a computer that has a card slot (direct) this card is very fast. Delivery was very fast though.Old reviewI am not sure why but after buying this card which the delivery was quite quick by the way, I cannot format this card.I am using Windows 7 64 bit version. My associates have the 32 bit version and it is exactly the same.Don't think the card is bad because I have read on the net about others that had this same problem.Want to ship it back but maybe i am doing something wrong.

45MB/s
New camera and needed memory cards. Important they were fast as the frame per second rate and video would potentially suffer, but I did not want to pay a fortune as the camera takes two (overflow, RAW/JPeg or video on second).8GB was ideal. Not too big that 100's of pictures would be lost if the card failed but big enough, with two, for day long shooting.Have shot over 1000 pictures in RAW format and a few minutes of video and have had no problems or issues with the cards themselves. Taking pictures, downloading and reformatting the cards has been easy and trouble free. The cards arrived well packaged and on time although the packaging is not usable for storage of the card after purchase. However, I only bought two and neither has left the camera since purchase. When I buy more I will buy a case to hold them.

The sharpest card
I have long been a fan of SanDisk cards, and this card is another in a growing line I have bought and been very happy with. This was part of a gift along with a digital camera, and as I have come to expect, it performs very well. The Class 10 write speed is easily fast enough for the snapshot camera it is now installed in, and 8Gb capacity is massive -this equates to over 1600 14MP fine resolution pics, and many many more at lower resolutions. All my other SanDisk cards continue to perform flawlessly after several years, and I don't expect this to be an exception.Highly recommended.AA
