You need to pressurize the system. I use 40 lbs. Of pressure and the you turn on the water pump for no more than 30 seconds and that should clear the pump of all water. Works the same with water heater. **Q: Does this totally eliminate the need for RV antifreeze? (Indiana)** A: No, it will not totally eliminate the need for antifreeze. Any low point in a line air will push past the highest point of the lowest point in the line. I never blow out the lines. I use a bypass on the fresh water tank into the pump and replace all fluid in the lines with antifreeze. Always remember to remove the screen from city water inlet and depress the pressure valve. **Q: Will this item hook up to a standard garden hose?** A: Yes it hooks up to a standard garden hose. We used it to blow out our camper lines. Worked great. **Q: what size/type threads?** A: I gave away the part to family that needed it. The size/type of threads is exactly what the standard garden hose fittings use.
