BMLEI Leather Steering Wheel Cover, Stitch on Car Steering Wheel Wrap

This is real leather and looks great. It takes a lot of patience to sew this on. But worth it. I used super glue to secure knots. The technique is a little unclear but the video helps. I just went through the loops back and forth.

I needed a new steering wheel cover for my '09 Jeep Wrangler. I can't stand the thick feel off so many other options out there. I like my factory leather wrap. My OEM steering wheel is 15.5", I wanted .5" under size for a tight fit. This steering wheel cover honestly fits like a glove! Very nice to the touch. The tiny perforations in the leather help with group and will allow my hands to breathe. The kit comes with 2 needles and threading material. The instructions recommended using both of the provided threading. However, I chose to use only one. Using two will give a really nice "baseball" style threadwork. To me, that was way overkill. Zig zagging the one thread took just under 45 minutes. I wasn't prepared to sit for round two. 😉 Overall, I'm extremely HAPPY! It looks great and feels better than stock. It's definitely not like the wraps we had in the '70's and '80's. LOL If you have about an hour, and a little patients, you'll be very pleased with this option. Note, it did take about 15 minutes for me to slowly stretch the new cover into place. I used the handle of a teaspoon to help persuade the cover on to the steering wheel. Be patient, it's thin. But not so thin that it's cheap. **Update** My original review was written 2018. It's now 2021. I've had no issues with the steering wheel wrap. Numerous off road trips from Moab to Sedona. Rained on and muddied. I'm impressed. It's still going strong. Looks good, minimal fading, and comfortable. Hopefully with this update, I didn't "jinx" myself. LOL

Top notch product easy to install but definitely can use a slow professional and detail minded touch. Installed on a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500. Overall it turned out really good theres a few small things that if I could do it again I would try to do differently. Otherwise simple install

I wasn’t looking to hide a worn steering wheel. I simply wanted something that felt better in my hands, especially on longer drives, and this genuine leather cover exceeded my expectations. It arrived quickly and was packaged well. The leather felt soft right out of the package, and the stitching was straight and evenly finished. I was a little concerned it might look bulky once installed, but that wasn’t the case at all. Installation took a little patience—as most steering wheel covers do—but that’s exactly what you want. A snug fit means it stays exactly where it’s supposed to without twisting or sliding while driving. Once installed, it completely changed the feel of the steering wheel. The grip is much more comfortable, especially during longer trips, and the added padding makes a noticeable difference. This is a good long term solution to having a good wheel grip. It helps to not tire while driving and maneuvering. It fit perfectly around the steering wheel. I took the time to sew it. Use the existing stitches to maintain a uniform seam. It only took about 10 minutes to sew around the entire wheel.

Absolute garbage. Did not even last 2 years after all the trouble to put it on. Doesn't look like genuine leather to me. Thin film that looks like leather started peeling off and the whole steering wheel looks like crap again

The carbon fiber on my steering wheel is starting to crack and looks blah. Before replacing the stock wheel with a Nardi or Momo I thought I would put a cover on it. To my surprise it looks pretty pretty good. It feels good too. I am not a tailor and can barely lace a pair of Converse. I took my time and laced the cover on. The trick seems to be NOT to pull the waxed thread tight and just slowly and diligently lace it on. There was more than enough thread to go around the wheel and an extra "spool" was in the professional looking box. I have had other wheel covers on my vehicles before and typicaly loathe them. Not this! I am most impressed with my purchase and would recommend it to others. If your wheel is blah and you want to spuce up your interior buy this product!!!

I am SO happy with the way this leather cover turned out on my new 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. My base LE model vehicle comes with a bargain basement rubber steering wheel, so I've been hunting for a quality cover to dress up the wheel and make it more comfortable. This BMLEI leather cover is a 10 out of 10! First off, the leather feels great. Yes, it's bonded leather, but no one should be expecting full grain leather at this price. And yes, it's more expensive than similar options you will find on Amazon, but the quality is well worth it. For about an hour of leisurely stitching time while listening to a couple episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond, I completely transformed my steering wheel. The cover fits extremely well. It has a lot of stretch, so don't be afraid to pull the thread tight. The thread itself is thick and waxed for durability. Nice touch! Once I had it all laced up, I tucked the raw seams at the base of each spoke, underneath the plastic trim on the steering wheel. Go slow with this. I used a plastic vehicle trim tool. DO NOT use a metal screwdriver or you will damage the cover. If I have one gripe, it's that I wish the cover was a little more plush. Don't get me wrong; the leather is thick enough. I would just prefer a thicker steering wheel overall with some squish to it. The better slip-on style covers provide this thick, squishy feel. However, they don't provide full coverage around the wheel (stitched) which was a must for me. We will see how this BMLEI cover ages with time, but for now it's a two thumbs up recommendation from one of the pickiest consumers you will find. :-). I will update this review if this changes.

Took some time to stitch it on - not complicated but you need to pay attention. So worth it though - the steering wheel prior was worn and clearly plasticky looking - now it looks very nice. It feels wonderful to touch now too.
