I usually make quite a bit the day before I have a party and let my guests make a few at the party. The reason it's half the cost, or less, of other similar products is that it is fairly small. If you wondered why there is no handle on top, it's because you don't need one. The average size hand can simply span the top and lift it off. The upside of this is that it doesn't take up much counter space. The downside of this is it forms one perfect sphere; then it's so cold that it cannot do a second one. Not a deal breaker. I put about 4 inches of hot water in the sink and warm up the aluminum for a minute or so, then make another perfect sphere. I think we are paying for mass of aluminum here. If this is for use at home, it's a good purchase. If you are running a bar, it's too small. Use pure clear ice. Your invitees will Ohh and Ahh. How to make clear ice?
