My current EDC multitool and an excellent starting point for anyone getting into the hobby
I carry the Swiss Army Climber model with me practically everywhere since I've purchased it and have never had any problems with it. I chose the black handled model since I've only owned ones with red handles up until now and figured I needed a change of pace, and I must say that it's a very handsome look combined with the stainless steel. The scissors, tweezers, and flathead screwdriver are probably my most used tools asides from the blades, but I've used the awl on my Camper model without issue in the past and am confident the same will be true with the Climber. Really the only differences between this model and the Huntsman is the absence of a saw and lack of corresponding weight and thickness as a result. I've only ever found myself in a single situation out in the sticks with my Camper model where I ever made use of the saw in my 2+ years of owning and using that model as my EDC multitool, so the lack of one on the Climber really doesn't bother me and I doubt the majority of people buying a Swiss Army Knife will ever be venturing out that far and need to make use of such a small saw. Overall I would say this is probably one of the best all around models for 90% of people looking for a Swiss Army knife but don't know what to choose as a starting point.

My favorite EDC tool!
I use this about every single day for one reason or another. Knives likely get the most use as you could expect but the variety of tools in this one really cover all I need in my day to day life. Th scissors are super handy to have and work great. And of course the bottle opener and corker when the days over. Never leave the house without it. Great purchase

What can I say - it's a genuine Swiss Army Knife
The Climber is pretty much the perfect setup for me. It's "missing" the built-in #2 (or so) Phillips screwdriver, but the tip of the can opener does fine most of the time for this need. And it's not too thick in my pocket. I got one in black because it was cheaper, and the color of it matters not to me. I replaced a many-years-old red Climber with this because one of the scales is broken on the end and the rivet on the scissors is loose. I'll eventually use a punch or something to try and fix the rivet, but the cost of a shiny new black Climber delivered was just a few bucks more than buying new scales with shipping, so the red one will sit in the drawer as a spare.

Cool thing
That knife is damn sharp I cut myself with it very lightly on accident, got my finger and gahlee it hurt but did it cut nice, all the other tools are helpful but I still don’t understand what the Swiss were thinking putting a corkscrew on a survival knife, can’t recall the last time I got stranded at a ball but that’s just me Pros: Lots of helpful tools Makes you feel like you know what you’re doing when camping Key ring is nice Cons: A little pricey but the quality is there, I was skeptical on getting one at first but if id had one and known how useful it is before buying it I definitely would’ve got it no hesitation

Pretty good
The tool line-up is very useful. I do not miss the #2 Phillips screwdriver, lots of people complain about that not being there. The tip of the can opener works for Phillips screws as long as they're not super tight. If it's that tight, you need real tools anyway. The corkscrew is useful for more than just opening wine bottles too. Very good at loosening up tight knots. All of the tools on mine are easy to open and close. Including the hook, which many people seem to have trouble with. This knife has the hole for the pin (pin - a needle, not a pen) near the corkscrew, but does not come with a pin. The scissors are very sharp, very nice to use, and IMO some of the best multi-tool scissors out there. The blades were reasonably sharp, though they did have a small burr which required a couple passes on the stone to remove. It didn't take much, and it's razor sharp now - but I did deduct a star because I had to hone it right out of the box. The flathead screwdriver/bottle opener "locks" into place at the 90 degree position and the in-line position. Good for getting more torque on tight screws. The bottle opener isn't the best I've used, but it's not the worst either. It does work, just not in one smooth motion. The can opener is great. Among the best I've seen on pocket knives/multitools. The sewing awl took a couple passes on the stone to clean up too, but it's fine now. Overall, it's a great tool. Just not "perfect" right out of the box. It's a good size for pocket carry. You wouldn't really want to go much larger than this. Tool set is useful, and there's nothing missing, IMO. If I had to come up with something that was missing - a file would be the one thing I would add or incorporate into some other tool.

Everyone I gave it to as a gift really liked it.
I bought these as gifts for the men on my Christmas list and it was a hit... good price, good value, and a practical gift. The guys I bought the knife for wouldn't have bought it on their own and they all use it.

This is extraordinary. The pocket knife yes, but also the fact that I am writing a review in praise of it. I'm a thought guy not a thing guy; I review books, typically philosophical ones. But this is a thing fit for a philosopher if ever there was one. Circumstances have conspired to make me spend some time contemplating my Swiss Army Knife. I recently lost mine. It was a dark day. I've had this knife in my pocket for something like 25 years and use it daily. Yes, a person might get along fine without this knife, but why would they? Here's a quick, although partial, inventory: The saw comes in handy for landscaping and plumbing work (cuts PVC and ABS pipe better than a hack saw does) and for gardening (pruning limbs up to 1.75 inch diameter or more). Two knives, two screw drivers, an awl/punch/drill, a can opener, bottle opener, even a toothpick. The scissors are excellent for personal grooming (trimming finger nails and nose hairs). The steel is highest quality and holds sharp edges for years, even under constant use. There's simply nothing like it: compact, intensely functional, inexpensive, dependable high quality. It'll be your inanimate buddy; you'll use it at home, at work, in the glorious wilderness, should you be fortunate enough to find yourself there. If you want to endear yourself to some philosopher (or perhaps even an ignorant numbskull), or maybe a guy with a nose hair problem, here's the perfect gift. Other people probably make a 'similar' product but don't waste your money on a knock-off, wannabe or Johnny-come-lately; this knife is a legend for every good reason. The only potential drawback cannot be blamed on the knife itself -- if you've forgotten it's in your pocket you will have it rudely confiscated before you can board a commercial airliner, this we must blame on a world sadly deficient in good philosophy. It's a beautiful thing. I found mine a few days after I lost it. My nails are clipped and life is good.

I bought this to replace my trusty swiss champ that I ended up losing going thru airport security. The champ was great for me for over 20 years and managed to survive a previous airport security find by being shipped back home. Unfortunately it finally met its demise, I hope it finds a good home with its new owner. I decided in getting my replacement that there were many items on the champ that I did not use. Pliers I always felt were too small to be effective for anything, The file and fine saw blade did not see much action and the coarse saw blade was never used too often. Please tell me if anyone used the fish scaler/ruler? I can see the ruler part but the fish scaler was never used. Adding those up, it is a lot of thickness to take out of the knife. Magnifying glass was fun to have but not a necessity. I do think I will miss my philips head screwdriver. So after taking out all these items I arrived at the Climber. I have to say this has all the necessary stuff without the bulk. I won't go thru all the items, it has the same swiss army quality that I have grown to expect and love. Very sharp blades out of the box and smooth action when flipping out each tool. I could always do away with the parcel hook, reamer and corkscrew on the other side of the knife. But that side of the knife always seemed boring so they have to put something there. I probably use those items the least, I use the scissors the most. Also check at the part of the corkscrew where the scales meet the liner, there is a tiny hole there which is likely for a pin, this is a tool that is in the swiss champ. They seemed to have put this in as a option all you have to do is find the replacement pin. While you are at it maybe get the small flathead that nests into the corkscrew. 2 more extra functions that a person may want.
