This elastic band accomplishes two tasks:1.) It provides a unique and readily identifiable marker that makes your ACH stand out from everyone else's.2.) It reduces the likelyhood of another soldier accidentally picking up your ACH during field exercises, since the band is not a common feature on most (non-deployed) personnel.
