Cook'n Vegetarian

The interface is pretty awful. Looks like it was writted for Windows 3.1 (pre Windows95). For this price the interface should have been modernized. Also, you have to put the CD in in order to use it. However, it does do ok at cataloging your own recipes which is what i wanted it for. The recipes already in it are not very vegetarian, using meat, sugar, butter and other stuff. Some are veggie though.Overall, I'm disappointed in the interface, and the fact i have to put the CD in every time i want to use it.

I have been using Cook'n for sometime now. This version of Cook'n has not only the "Cook'n Vegetarian" cookbook in the software but also 11 other cookbooks sold with any version of Cook'n so you will find some recipes with meat, etc. in it but you can choose not to use them or convert them to vegetarian. I like that I can search of any ingredient I want to cook with and this software will search through all the cookbooks included in the software. I am not sure with version 8 but with version 10 which you can upgrade to, if necessary, you can go to websites and capture recipes which Cook'n miraculously enters the title, ingredients, etc. for you. I have found some websites that I need to enter the recipe but then Cook'n puts the recipe in a side window (or at the top - the choice is yours) that you easily type the recipe. I have no affiliation with the software company or personal - I am only a software user who thinks this software is pretty good and I have found the company is willing to hear improvement ideas so that the next version will be even better cooking software.

Unless you need directions for how to make mini-pizzas out of a slice of bread, sauce, and cheese, you'll be better off with another program. Not easy to navigate around, either.

I love this program. It is easy to enter the recipes and simple to use. The only thing I did not like is that you could not spell check your added recipes. It also comes with many good recipes.

Cook'n for Vegetarians comes with tons of Vegetarian recipes that are delicious, and such a variety. The software is perfect for entering your own recipes. And for those of us who are watching our weight too, you can enter your own nutritional information for any lite ingredient and the software will automatically compute the recipe's nutritional value for you. Also, I host parties for my family often and it's so easy to change the number of people you'd like to serve and the program automatically changes the ingredient amounts for you! I've added more recipe cookbook titles to my collection since and loved them all. You can download the cookbooks once you have the software from [local website]. I give it 5 stars!

It's not easy finding good vegetarian recipes. That's why I was excited to find that someone had compiled a CD full of them. The variety on this CD is AMAZING! I was surprised to see that I could organize not only my own recipes but even the ones that came pre-programmed in the software. Whenever I find a really good recipe on the CD, I put it in my own category so I can use it again later.I'm not very computer literate but this CD was a snap to use. I just popped it in my CD drive and away I went. I highly recommend it.
