compared to the KidCo food mill
I prefer this in almost all ways to the KidCo food mill of similar shape and function. (This is not to say the KidCo is a bad product. I simply prefer the Green Sprouts one. The one reason I can see for the KidCo might be if your baby is just starting solid foods, and this is because the KidCo has smaller holes in the grinding surface and hence makes food slightly less textured. The KidCo also came with an extra gasket, and some versions come with a carrying case. Also, the KidCo is a little less prone to leaking liquid out the base.) Pros of the Green Sprouts: --Bigger overall, meaning more room in the base to fill with food and more room in the bowl for milled food. It also has a 'pour' spout on the bowl. --Easier to understand. The Green Sprouts directions were longer and clearer. --Easier to use. The KidCo is stiffer and harder to push down and harder to turn. --Easier to disassemble. The KidCo is a pain in the rear to get apart. I often have to jam a toothpick in one of the holes in the grate to get the top to unscrew. By comparison, I just tighten the easy-turn knob on the Green Sprouts' central post and then unscrew the top. --Easier to clean. I frequently have to painstakingly use a toothpick to poke food out of the tiny holes in the grate on the KidCo. With the Green Sprouts the holes are bigger and food rinses right out. --Stainless steel both on the turning part that crushes the food and on the grate that the food squishes through. (As for the reviewer who had this 'explode'... it must either be a fluke or she was grinding counterclockwise instead of clockwise. I have never had that problem with this mill, nor do I see how it would even be possible.) Keep in mind that this isn't a blender and food will end up a bit textured. But for what it claims to do, the Green Sprouts carries through 100%.

Easy to use, easy to clean works great!
So great and east to use, easy to clean, I actually use this for prescription wet cat food that is very grainy and a pain to mash up. This puree maker/food mill does the job super easily, taking an annoying task into a much more reasonable one. I am much happier with this whole process!

Convenient and easy to clean
Love it. I love that it makes puree a lot easier. I do veggies, fruits, and meat. Sometimes the meat gets stuck and I have to manually remove it from the grinder area but it’s not too bad. Wish it wasn’t plastic Re-attaching the grinder to the unit is a little tricky but you get the hang of it. I take it with me to restaurants.

Unsatisfied Customer
I bought this for school (I have a class of 1yr. olds). I used to have one when my kids were little and I loved it. This grinder doesn't grind anything except overcooked carrots. It's hard to put the grinder piece in place, bottom srew is loose and can't be tightened and I need a small screwdriver to take apart the grinder piece everytime I use it because the food doesn't grind and gets stuck in between the piecesI and I have to pry it open. Doesn't work for anything except food that you could mash with a fork. I used my old on for whole dinners when my oldest was starting on solids and it ground everything and was great for traveling and restaurants. I don't recommend this brand. Messy, inefficient, and has to be tinkered with.
Not the best idea, I highly recommend just buying a small food processor. The instructions clearly state not to flip the blade, but you have to do so to make it actually cut the food. Doing so also makes the blade and filter plate grind together. The instructions also say nothing of the tiny plastic washer that comes pre-installed on the blade shaft; I removed it from mine after some testing. Using this devise can also be quite messy. When pushing down on the top portion and turning the blade shaft, liquids leak out the bottom, so using it as a bowl is really not an option unless you want to wear juices from your baby's food. Furthermore the whole thing is suppose to be about portability, which it really fails in; it is so large, it takes up a lot of room in my diaper bag making it more of a hinderance to carry around with me. Now the question is, does it work? No, not really. If the food is squishy like bananas, it chops it up ok after tinkering with the blade. I could do the same job quicker with a fork or spoon to be honest and have less dishes. It does however prevent large chunks from getting through. If you have something like noodles (not thin like ramen or spaghetti), soft carrots, or potatoes, it does struggle. You can forget anything small enough to squeeze through the holes, or things that are tough and/or stringy as it doesn't get chopped, or just becomes a nasty mess under the plate. In the end, I rarely use mine as I hate cleaning it, and definitely don't take it on the go.

Great old-fashioned product
This is a great baby food grinder! I absolutely love it. I use it to feed my son what my fiance and myself are eating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'll throw veggies, meat, rice, beans, etc in there and just grind it up. I think something that makes people unhappy about this grinder is that they expect a pureed texture from it- if you want that, get a blender. There is a little texture to the food when it comes through the screen, and yes, it does take some muscle to grind denser food like meat. The texture in the food works very well for my 8 month old, but if you're feeding a 4 month old, you may want to consider fully pureeing the food to prevent gagging. Another thing that I LOVE about this grinder is that it's so easy to use and it's portable. I just throw it in the diaper bag when we go out to eat, and I can share my food with my son. Honestly, it has made eating out with a baby so much better! Now that he has something to eat, he actually enjoys going to restaurants, which means my fiance and myself can also enjoy our time out. In conclusion, this grinder is an awesome, old-school tool similar to the one my mom used for my siblings and myself. It's great because buying this and feeding your baby what you're eating is way healthier and cheaper than constantly buying baby food. It's also nice because it doesn't require electricity, so you can use it anywhere, anytime. If you're into simpler baby gadgets that have worked for decades, I recommend this product. If you want something that magically produces Gerber-like slop for your baby with no effort on your part, keep dreaming. Also, it's never leaked on me.

Best baby food mill on the market!
A real solid compact food mill that is so useful for parents on the run and helping bubs join in at the family dinner. We had simliar food mills years ago ( like 30 yrs!) and Green Sprouts have made feed time a breeze now. Simply add a portion of the family dinner into the food mill and dinner is served the way you want to feed your bubs. We've done roast chicken and lamb with vegies and gravy... our kids and grandkids love it.

Fantastic 😘👌
Performs perfectly, I love it. Only one issue, the label ink runs when you wash it in warm water.

Para niños mayores de un año
Es bueno para niños más grandes de un año, no muele bien la papilla y las semillas las deja algunas.
