Lives up to Expectations
I have to admit that I did do a lot of second guessing before buying this rather expensive brush, but I'm happy to report that I have fallen in love with this! It has become my primary hair styling stool. You see, I have really long fine black hair and most brushes / combs are way too violent with my hair, causing too much breakage. But when I use this one, not even a single hair breaks (but it does remove loose hair and build-up gently). I can see why this has become such an icon. Even the cleaning brush that comes with this is a thing of beauty. The rubber padding, on which sits the boar bristles, acts as a soft cushion preventing the brush from scraping against my sensitive scalp. Such a perfect way to coddle my hair!

much improved hair condition
I had one of these as a child when I had very long hair. I now have short, fine but quite copious hair and wasn't sure the brush would make much difference. I need not have worried; after 8 months the condition of my hair is much better. I brush it night and morning, and it lies flat on my head, then a quick run through with my fingers and it springs back into style. To me it's worth every penny.

A new MP Brush! (Retired my previous one after 30+yrs service)
After using my Mason-Pearson Detangler brush, purchased for me by my parents 30+ years ago, the pad finally began to lose a few bristles, and to show other signs of wear, necessitating the need for a replacement. So I recently purchased this dark ruby Universal model. This Universal is only my 3rd MP brush, including the Pocket Nylon brush I own, also purchased decades ago— a testament to the quality of M-P’s fine hair care products. The Universal (“medium” sized) has 7 rows of bristles, the Detangler (“handy” sized), has 6 rows. Both brushes have identical bristles, but the Universal is a larger brush. Need help deciding? If you have smaller hands, or intend to use this predominantly for styling, consider the “handy” size Detangler instead. Both are full-sized, adult brushes. The Pocket-sized brush (5 rows of bristles), while intended as a travel/purse brush, can also be used as an everyday/primary brush for children. The pad is only slightly smaller than the other two, but the handle length is considerably shorter. I have provided two photos for visual reference both of the 3 brush-types/sizes mentioned here (plus the Cleaner), and their accompanying boxes. While I am blonde, I have a healthy headful of very thick, moderately coarse, slightly wavy hair. I adore M-P’s largest, traditional brushes with boar bristles (so luxurious and absolutely gorgeous displayed on one’s dressing table!), but due to the thickness of my hair, I have always used the nylon-bristled models as my everyday/primary brushes (on dry hair) because they're the only bristles that penetrate to my scalp. While the nylon bristles are firm, they do flex, and are so well-polished, they’ve never scratched my scalp. They literally glide through my hair. They’re also useful for brushing-out hairspray and dry shampoo. Additionally, I use my M-P’s for styling such as back-brushing (volume & height can be achieved in seconds). With proper care these brushes will last decades. Included are glossy, full-color leaflets with care directions such as using the included Cleaner brush, as well as some historical information on the company. These cult-classic brushes are truly the best investment one can make for a lifetime of beautiful hair. Very highly recommended! Thank you for reading, -CC, Amazon Prime Member-Reviewer

Sobrevalorado
No pagues de más por este producto. No lo vale, es más si fama que lo que es… un cepillo vulgar y silvestre de plástico sin nada relevante que resaltar

Love, Love, Love this brush.
Love, Love, Love this brush, had one years ago and loved it also, but gave to my granddaughter, should have kept it because her texture of hair is not the same as mine. My hair is baby fine and frizzy up front and on front sides. This brush is so perfect for this type of hair. It feels so good brushing my short 79 year old female hair. I am praying that this brush will stimulate my hair into growing. It has taken sooo long for my hair to grow. It grows very slowly because it breaks so easily. So I will what progress it makes for thr rest of the year. Just got my brush a couple of weeks ago, but hasn't let me down, it just FEELS SO GOOD ON MY SCALP while brushing.

A really nice brush
Have dealt with seborrheic dermatitis my whole life - wish I found this brush sooner. It really exfoliates my scalp way better than a cheap Conair brush from the drugstore (with the plastic balls on end of the bristles) . I look forward to brushing my hair with it each night because it really calms down my scalp and feels great. Expensive but worth it .
