I ordered this extension arm on August 5, followed by two more on August 6 and August 7, all from different sellers. I thought the issue was just size or brand—but it turns out the thread standard was completely wrong, and no one warned me. This product uses G1/2 threads—also known as British Standard Pipe (BSPP). I had no idea that G1/2 is not the same as ½” NPT, which is the standard thread used in the U.S. I’ve never worked with metric or international pipe sizes, so when I saw “½ inch” and “standard,” I assumed it would work. It doesn’t. G1/2 threads will look similar to NPT, and they may even start threading in. But they won’t seat properly, they leave visible gaps, and in my case, they prevented a flush install of my shower head. These parts either overextended, wouldn’t tighten, or just spun incorrectly. There’s no warning in the listing that G1/2 is not compatible with U.S. plumbing. It’s blasted all over the title and bullet points, but nowhere does it say “not compatible with NPT” or “British standard threads”—and unless you already know the difference, you’re set up to fail. Because of this mistake: * I wasted a full week troubleshooting something that never should’ve been this hard. * I missed the return window on other parts I ordered for the same install. * I now have to make mismatched parts work, or eat the cost. What U.S. Buyers Actually Need: “½ inch NPT male to female shower arm extension” Avoid anything that says: * G1/2 * BSPP * “universal” without NPT clearly stated * Or that doesn’t say “½ inch NPT” in the specs Amazon Needs to Fix This: I’ve been a Prime customer for over a decade. There was a time when I could trust every listing. Now? I’m returning multiple items per shipment because of used products, deceptive specs, and ambiguous listings—like this one. Amazon claims they’re cracking down on fake reviews and bad actors, but what about protecting honest buyers from shady sellers and misleading product info? If a part isn’t compatible with U.S. plumbing, it should say so, clearly. Final Thoughts: If you're in the U.S. and need a standard ½" pipe extension for a shower head, this will not work. Don’t waste your time, your money, or your install window like I did. I wish someone had written this review before I ordered—so here it is.

These worked well for a pot filler which had too short of a nipple from the elbow in the wall to the faucet. However I took off one star because no where on the product do they say what size the internal allen socket size is. This is important because the size is non standard and you will only find it online and not at any brick and mortor stores. I measured the allen socket at 12.3mm so im guessing a 12mm allen is correct. I didnt have this and ended up getting lucky by hand tightening using the faucet with alot of thread sealent and tape but i wish i would have had the allen tbh.

Affordable solution for the situation where you're fitting is short. In my case I was trying to install a shower system hands prayer and the brass connector that goes inside the wall was a little short so I needed something to make it grab the thread enough to prevent any leaks. I like that fact that you can use a hex head to rotate this adapter from the inside which is perfect for my scenario. Only con is that the finish is not clean, there is many tiny burrs on the threads, but given the fact that choices are limited to solve my problem, I'm happy with it.

My new shower head fitting was a bit too deep in the wall. This did the job to bump it out enough to get flush with the tiles surface. Worked great, and was just what I needed.
