I purchased this flashlight as a gift for my father. After seeing him use it I fell in love. I just had to buy one for myself. This really is an excellent flashlight. It's exceptionally bright and has a great battery life. After charging it for a few hours the unit lasted me for about 6 weeks with moderate usage. The case to the battery is built tough and won't break when dropped from a resonable height. When you get it home you will have to charge it before you can use it. Keep in mind the flashlight will not turn on when it is connected to the charger either. Give it a few hours to charge. Another feature on this flashlight is the ability to dim the light intensity on it. BUT please note that if you dim the light then shut the flashlight off the light will go back to its original setting when turned back on, you will have to re dim the light. The flashlight itself can light up an entire room. I turned in on in the middle of the night and it looked like daylight in my room. Be careful though, don't look directly into the light or flash it at anyone because it is blinding. The unit comes with a AC charger and a car charger. Overall I would give this flashlight a 5 out of 5. I would recommend it for anyone who needs a flashlight. Its exsecptionally long battery life and bright light make it perfect for road trips, the car, or for day to day use.

I have owned 3 Stanley lights. One water proof and two of the SL5W09 5 watt led's. The switch (rotary) on the waterproof failed after a couple months and worked off and on, depending on how many times I turned to get it to work. OK light but a badly designed switch. The other two were the SL5W09 lights and both have served quite well for one year. Battery on one, finally failed, after about a year and would only hold charge for a few minutes or seconds. The other after 3 years is still working but the switch screwed up at about a year. The lock on the switch locks without touching it and so you have to unlock before turning on. Real pain in the neck but like I say, the light still lights up and still holds a fair charge particularly for the age of the light. I love the light output. Battery output was pretty good but would like to see more time. Wished there was a way to change out the battery. And hope that they have redesigned the switch but not holding my breath. No, I would not recommend the water proof because of the cumbersome rotary switch which fails after a few uses. I sort of recommend the SL5W09 not because they are great but they seem to be the best light output for what you are getting for the price. Wished there was a better light, but these are built in china and what do you expect. I would not mind a heavier battery thus a heavier light if it would last longer and better. I just hate to spend the money for something that works just ok and then have it breakdown after a few months. After all of this comment, I am buying a couple more of the SL509's because I need a decent output light. Just wish they were built better. There are other lights out there but the old adage of "you get what you pay for" holds true. I just wish that what I am paying for for the Stanley was better built. It's almost like they rushed to get the light on the market and then called it good enough.

This Stanley 5 watt LED spotlight will throw more light farther than any flashlight you can get for anywhere near the same amount of money. Lighting something up 400 feet away to the point you can actually see it at night is no problem for this spotlight. Additionally it also put out a reasonably bright lighted area closer up to the user. The maker says this light puts out 192 lumens. From my experience with other lights rated at higher lumens this Stanley spotlight probably puts out more than the claimed amount. It uses LSD (low self discharge) NmHd batteries that hold a charge for months if you let the unit just sit with no use. This is unlike NiCad batteries which lose a charge in a much shorter period of no use. This unit is small enough to fit into a large pocket and lightweight. I have some small nit picking problems with this spotlight but the advantages far outweigh them. I can recommend this product without reservation to anyone looking for a powerful light at a reasonable cost.

This spotlight easily replaces my big bulky spot light I used to use in my truck. The single LED does not use much energy meaning this thing lasts a really long time. I've used it for hours without recharging and have never run it out of power vs my big one that only lasts 10-15 minutes. Comes with both house and car charger. This thing will easily shine across a large corn field and has a very nice and uniform hot spot in the middle with a good and wide coverage. Fits very nicely in your hand. Some things to point out are that when you pull the trigger it turns on and when you let it go it turns off and there is a button on the side you can push to have it hold the trigger down for you. This trigger can also lock it so you can not pull the trigger. The dimming feature is somewhat useless to me since when you dim it and let go of the trigger and then turn it on again it goes back to normal brightness. The dimming might be useful if you plan on having it on for a long time and do not need it at it's max brightness, I'm sure the battery will last much longer on the dim level. I think everyone needs one of these if you ever have a need for a spotlight or even just a flashlight. The construction is very durable as well, feels very solid.

I purchased the STANLEY SL5W09 in November 2024. 1 year later the spotlight quit working. I've taken it apart to see if wires need to be reconnected but cannot determine why it doesn't work any longer. Do not recommend as a flashlight should last for years. Very disappointing and will buy a different brand and quality with next purchase.

The torch has a good range with a tight beam, and is very bright. It meets my expectations and needs.

The circuit breakers are there for good reason even though their live demonstration is not met with great enthusiasm. At such occasions you need a very good torch light to deduce which might be offending device that triggers it. This torch does the job and more. It sits in the kitchen its colour vying with the egg yolks that adorn the table during breakfast. I have a thing for yellow in different shades. I am still very happy with the purchase.
