Review: Better than supermarket olive oil - I've been buying good-quality olive oil for the only the last 8 months or so, including several bottles of this one. So I'm no expert, and my review should be read in that light. But I wouldn't have made repeat buys of this oil and given it as a gift if I wasn't impressed. It has a greenish-yellow hue that supports its claim to be harvested early from green olives. The smell has a slightly sharp tang of fresh grass or tarragon, which is a pleasure to inhale. ( I always spend a zen moment smelling this oil before using it, something I've never done before with olive oil.) I don't cook with this oil; I just use it fresh on salads or as a dressing or add it straight to hot food, such as pasta or rice, even potatoes. And I glug a shot of it each morning to help against my arthritis. (My bones and teeth feel much improved, but I'm taking other stuff for that as well, so I'm not going to claim medicinal power for this oil. Sure does no harm, though.) The trouble with supermarket oils, even some of the more expensive ones, is that they're made out of mixed batches from wholesale bulk tanks, meaning they've no traceable source to the land. Clearly that opens the door for the mixing in of lower-grade oils, old oils, and of oils not even from olives. The buyer is vulnerable to unwittingly consuming the very thing they buy olive oil t to avoid: unhealthy oil. But with Castillo de Canena, the origin of the oil is clear. As the bottle declares, it is harvested and bottled on the estate, a use-by date marked. And we know the olives for this label were of a single variety, harvested and bottled early. In short, this olive oil has provenance. For me, after a lifetime buying dodgy olive oil, that's a guarantee worth paying for.
Review: The single best olive oil I've ever had - The single best olive oil I've ever had

## Features

- A UNIQUE OIL: The Castillo de Canena Family Reserve Picual is an early harvest oil, made from olives picked at their optimum ripeness to preserve all their freshness. This monovarietal extra virgin olive oil has been awarded at the EVOOLEUM TOP100, Flos Olei, and NYIOOC. Its limited production and cold extraction process guarantee a pure oil, with exceptional intensity and balance.
- AN AROMA THAT AWAKENS YOUR SENSES: On the nose, it presents a medium-high fruitiness, with a perfect combination of fresh and herbaceous notes. Aromas of freshly cut grass, olive leaf, tomato plant, and green almond can be clearly perceived, accompanied by subtle hints of apple and green banana. This aromatic complexity brings an unmistakable freshness and a vibrant character that sets it apart from other oils.
- BALANCED EXCELLENCE IN EVERY DROP: In the mouth, it offers a powerful and well-balanced profile. Its entry is sweet and smooth, followed by a medium bitterness and a progressively spicy touch. Notes of tomato plant, green almond, and apple can be distinguished, with a persistent and elegant aftertaste that leaves an enveloping sensation. Its structure and body make it an ideal oil for tasting raw and enhancing your favourite recipes.
- ELEVATE YOUR RECIPES WITH A GOURMET TOUCH: Thanks to its great balance and harmony, this Extra Virgin Olive Oil perfectly complements a wide variety of dishes. Use it in soups and creams, such as gazpacho or salmorejo, in fresh salads, dressings, vinaigrettes, and marinades. It's also ideal for pasta, baked fish, grilled meats, and traditional stews. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: If you place the olive oil inside of the refrigerator, does it extend its life before getting rancid? Thanks so much!**
A: Olive oil will keep well if stored in a sealed container in a cool, dark cupboard for about one year. If unopened, the oil may keep for as long as two years. You can refrigerate it but please keep in mind that refrigerated olive oil will solidify and turn cloudy, making it difficult to use. Returning it to room temperature restores its fluidity and color.

**Q: Could I likely refill this bottle with other oils once empty, or will the blue color likely wear off the glass after normal use? Thanks.**
A: Yes, you can fill with other oils.

**Q: Is this this 2017 vintage?**
A: are you serious Bob? does any oil state the vintage?

**Q: Is this a good price? And did they pack properly to avoid breakage? Thanks**
A: This is a fair price for this award winning oil. The bottles are securely packed in bubble wrap to avoid breakage.
