My neighbors 9 year old loves these sets. He’s been picking up rocks since he’s a little guy. He’s loving the new gifts I bought him for his birthday. Honestly this child is definitely going to be a geologist.

Great Science Activity that comes with all you need
This kit comes with everything you need to test the minerals and rocks for an earth science unit. The only thing it doesn't come with is a chart reproduceable for the classroom. I was able to find an excellent free PDF chart on TPT. The pamphlet that comes with this kit gives an easy to understand and very thorough explanation of how test the minerals for: color, streak test, luster, and hardness. It also listed some supplemental tests that I chose to skip because of time spent on the other tests. The completed chart is also included for both the rocks and the minerals so you don't have to guess when working with kids. Excellent kit

Great Exploration and Learning Activity
This is a great activity kit that lets kids examine rock specimens with a magnifying glass, determine which rock it is and then look it up on the information sheet to learn about it. I will definitely be getting this item again for birthday gifts!

Small but works great for education
My son is very into rocks and minerals right now and these are great for teaching him about hardness etc. The samples are small but they are fine for the purpose of teaching him.

Some of the rocks are wrong. The one they are saying is Gneiss is not gneiss. #14
