Programming was a breeze and did not require a trip to the dealer. Works good for a non oem remote.

Used for my F-150. Programing instructions are in the Ford owners manual. It was quick and easy to program both the key and fob. Read all of the programing instruction before you begin. The only problem I encountered was finding someplace that would grind the key profile when I didn’t buy it from them. Found a locally owned hardware store that did it for labor only and it was cheap, less than $2.00. Tru-Value, Ace, and Home Depot wanted me to purchase the key from them and the key alone was 3 times what I paid for the key and fob.

The remote worked great & programed exactly per the instructions.The key, however, MUST be programed by a mechanic even if you already have a second key stored in the vehicle's computer. It can't be cloned from key #1 or key #2. After you get the key cut as if it was a "dumb" key with no chip in it, an additional key MUST be programed into the your car or truck's central processor for this key to work (i.e., usually as key #3). This programming can't be done by a key-cutting device or a locksmith. You WILL need a mechanic to add this for you (unless you are a mechanic) or this key won't work.

This was my first experience with this type of key. Took the key to my locksmith as instructed but he was unable to program it. He substituted his and it worked perfect. The fob programmed perfectly. My locksmith warned me ahead of time that the key I got may not be compatible, so I wasn't too surprised.

I was able to program the remote and the key myself as i still had both of the factory keys. You will need both original keys to do it yourself.

For my 04 F-150. Got the key cut at local HW store. Programmed both the key and fob in vehicle using youtube videos (no need to go to the dealership). Was super easy and both now work great.

Used my saved vehicle on Amazon to search for compatible key and remote. Although the remote was programmable, it had a range of about 12 inches. It would work inside the car and if you held it up to the windshield. Not even standing at the door. Not even with a new battery. I used the new case and swapped in electronics from the broken original, so I guess it wasn’t totally useless. Took the key to a locksmith and it could not be successfully programmed by him. He cut it anyway and I tried the procedure with the two factory keys with no success. It will manually unlock the door, but won’t start the car. Had to buy a transponder key from locksmith. That one worked.

It’s working well and easy to set up.
