Best and Quickest Mixing Tool for Concrete, Cement, Mortar, Soils, and More

Update (9/21/2022)- I used it again to pour a 12'x14' pad for my father-in-laws shop. I tore the bag on some rebar dragging it around. It still works but I added a patch to finish the project. If I have another project I will not hesitate to order another one. I much prefer mixing with two people but you can manage with just one. I split 80lb bags in half to mix and pour with one person. It is a workout but works great! It makes it easy to pour into tubes and makes less mess than a mixer and a wheelbarrow.Original Post-I was skeptical when I bought this thing. I have always ordered cement or used a cement mixer/ wheel barrow. Never again! If you use premixed bags of cement you need this thing.I poured 15- 10 inch pillar supports for my deck this past week. This thing was awesome! I used 110- 50 lb bags. I found two people mixing and one pouring worked the best. It took under 10 minutes to fill each concrete tube. That is around eight to ten bags in each tube in less time than one bag with a mixer and wheel barrow. I also liked the control when pouring into the tube. There was very little wasted concrete around the tube when finished, thus saving money. It does use muscles you never knew you had but if you are used to some manual labor this thing is a piece of cake.Yes it is expensive, but you get a quality product that will last years and the inventor deserves to get some $$ for coming up with this ingenious mixer. I would buy again for my next project, but the one I have is almost as clean as when I started so I won't have to, ever.

Mixed over 10 80lb bags with a rented mixer one weekend to fix large pool deck repair cut outs. The following weekend, mixed at least another 14 with this mix bag to finish the job. Had a couple family members - one to pair up on the mixing and one of us would spray water into the mix as we went. Took a minute or less to mix an 80lb bag. The whole job was much faster than when I did the job with the mixer on my own.I saw a reviewer say he thinks mixing it up with a hoe would have been easier. I could not disagree more. I will never even rent a mixer again over using this (and that has nothing to do with avoiding the rental fee) and I can't imagine even considering a wheel barrow or mixing container + hoe ever again. Could easily use this bag with one person for just a couple bags without getting worn out. Clean up also super simple and easy.Father-in-law happened to stop by right when we were starting the job and, eyebrow raised, asked if I was opposed for some reason to using the classic hoe method. Now he's sold on this as well.I highly recommend this. The only negative is how dumb you feel for not thinking of something this simple yourself.

This thing actually works!I wanted to DIY an 8 foot by 5 foot concrete slab in my backyard but renting a cement mixer would be a hassle since I don’t have a truck to transport it. I calculated that I needed to mix roughly 15 cubic feet of cement and the YouTube videos all warn viewers about the amount of back breaking work it would require to mix that amount of Concrete by hand. Tried mixing one bag using a mixing bin and shovel and yup, the videos were right. No way I was going to be able to mix that much concrete using shovel and mixing bin.Stumbled upon this MixMat while browsing for cement mixers. Was kind of skeptical but it’s the cheapest solution since electric mixers start around $150 for the smallest ones(and finding a place to store it after I’m done would be a headache too). So I ordered this MixMat and hoped the positive reviews were not fake reviews.Well, the MixMat absolutely works. I was able to mix, pour, screed the little slab by myself in about 3 hours or so(and this is the first time I’ve worked with concrete).There was a bit of a learning curve to figuring out the best way to use it but I think I figured it out by bag 3. The only minor gripes are that there was a tendency for the mix to spill out the middle if I wasn’t pay attention(2 people mixing would probably not have this issue) and the cost is pretty high for essentially a piece of heavy duty fabric with some straps sewn in for support and handle. Clean up was a breeze as advertised. I just laid it on my driveway and hosed it off till it looked clean.Overall I would say this method is definitely superior to mixing concrete by hand with a bin and shovel and I would recommend it for DIYers needing to mix small to medium amounts of concrete.

We had 7 bags of cement to mix, and this was an enormous help.We needed to build a cement foundation for a staircase landing, and do not have a lot of construction experience.I’d watched a bunch of video guides about how to do it, and there was an emphasis on how laborious the ol’ spade in a wheelbarrow approach was, and to not take it lightly. Additionally, our location was not convenient for pouring from a wheelbarrow, so it would be mixing in a wheelbarrow and then some sort of bucket transfer assembly line. It sounded awful, so I started looking for other solutions and briefly considered a masonry tub and electric mixer, only to find many complaints about the tub cracking, etc, and I didn’t like the idea of buying too much for such a small job.And it just sounded terrible. If you’ve ever made cake or pizza dough, you know what it’s like when you discover a dry pocket at the bottom and have to knead it into the whole, and add the spine twisting noise of metal scraping on metal with sand… I wanted to find a better way.This thing was great. It’s probably possible with 1 person, but certainly seemed optimal for 2 or 3 people. Pour in cement and water (why it’s nice to have a third person to pour the water), and just roll the mixture back and fourth until there’s no dry left. I can’t tell you how many times it looked fully mixed until the mixture rolled over revealing a rouge dry spot that would have been a major hassle in the wheelbarrow method. And then, when you’re done, carry it over to the pour site.Really efficient and intuitive. It made the whole project really easy.

I know some people swear by this thing. As evidenced by the reviews. Its a glorified tarp with handles. Granted a little less tear-resistant. One person using it without making an absolute mess is damn near impossible. 2 people can make it work, but its so much easier using a 5 gallon bucket and paddle mixer - or the good ol' garden hoe and wheelbarrow.We gave it the ol' college try (actually 2) and quickly tossed it aside. Tried selling it. Tried giving it away. No takers. Might as well used the $100 to rent a concrete mixer.

This is meant for 2 people. It is amazing and super simple. Other reviews that state it's difficult should probably hire someone to do the work. If you can't figure this thing out in about 2 seconds, you need to be kept away from other people.

I tried it on a few bags of mortar mix, and soon decided that it was a lot more trouble than a simple mortar pan and hoe. Not great with two people, and almost impossible with just one. Plus, if you're mixing multiple batches of cementitious product, you have to wash this between batches to keep from destroying it.Yet another one of the endless gimmicky tools that you buy and quickly discard. Stick with the tried-and-true stuff.It *might* be useful for mixing garden soil, and I'm keeping it to test for that next time I need it.

We loved our Mix Mat!! We wanted a 12.5 x 12.5 slab and there was no way to get close with a concrete truck or trailer mixer. had to do it by hand. two of us mixed up more than 72 bags of concrete in no time at all. Easy to use mixing is really quick and then put it right where you want it every single time. THROW THE WHEEL BARROW AND HOE AWAY !! Mix concrete the easy way fast and easy. Cannot say enough about this Mix Mat It is perfect.Craig

Took about a minute to mix a 20kg bag of concrete, easy on the back. Very happy with the purchase.
