What’s the difference between this newer version and the older version with several good reviews?

Your question can be taken two different ways. If you are comparing USB-B to USB-C, then a device using one or the other isn't compatible with the other. If you are speaking of the comparing a older USB C to a newer USB C the differences are of a technical nature. The older, while good cords, were probably at a lower wattage (i.e. 40w) compared to the newer ones which match the new chargers at 60/100w. For the record both will work but your device will only charge at the rate of the cord. (Ex: If you have a 100w charger and a 40w cord, you're only going to get a 40w charge ... much slower.) Hope that answers your question.

Can this be used as an oculus quest 2 link if i have a type c port on my computer?

This cable connects two USB-C ports. If you are attempting to connect two USB-C ports this is a viable solution.

These cables are designed to be durable and last a long time. The braided nylon makes these cable super strong. Even if they are coiled, bent, or tossed around they won't fray, split, or break. They are a good length that can reach from a charing block to a device. These cables support true fast-charging speeds. Both my MacBook M1 Pro and my iPhone 16 Pro Max can get to 80% charge quickly. This is a solid product and a great price point! Highly receommended!
