I've had 7 of these these cameras installed for just over two months using the Tapo H500 hub, and overall they are very good. I found both the Hub, cameras and solar panels easy to install, and the app is clear and also easy to set up and use. That said, I ran into some issues early on, which I'll detail later, but they were all "fixable". Picture and sound quality is very good, even in dull daylight. I use the infrared setting at night to save battery life, and while the picture quality is good enough to see what is happening and to identify what people are doing / wearing (roughly) you can't make out faces or similar detail levels. The smart detection isn't all that good - I have had "person detected" alerts when squirrels are running up a tree, but if you set the detection area carefully and set detection mode to "person" and "pet" only, and turn off "all motion" alerts I find you don't get that many false alerts. The cameras regard foxes as pets, but that is understandable. Three of the cameras are in "high traffic" areas and four around the sides and back of the house (low traffic) and so far the cameras have used about 70GB of the 970GB available on the 1TB SSC hard drive I put in the hub. At this rate the drive will take about a year to fill up. Once I got a couple of wrinkles sorted, battery life is excellent. Six of the cameras are still showing 100% battery after two months despite the dull, wet winter we have had. One of the cameras is located at the edge of the Wi-Fi / Tapo hub network range and this seems to cause it to drain the battery much more, particularly when it is cold. It is currently on 62% after two months, but it dropped from c90% to c70% in less than a week when we had the very cold week in early January. It has since stabilised, so even this camera battery should last about 6 months, and hopefully a sunny spring will keep it going longer (although another cold snap will probably cause another big drain). Three of the cameras/panels are located where trees obscure the sun, so I bought the larger A200 solar panels to use there. I'm not sure I needed to bother as all three are still at 100% battery after over two months. The one issue I have run into is that it can take one or two camera "resets" to get them to work properly. In three cases when I set the camera up and placed it well within Wi-Fi and/or Hub range the camera either (i) kept dropping off the network and saying it was out of range, or (ii) randomly started to chew through battery for no reason. I have found that if you dismount the camera, make sure you are close to your router, then "hard" reset the camera using the little reset button and set it up from scratch again, it then usually works perfectly. One camera took two "hard resets" to get this result, but I got there in the end. Why the cameras sometime do this I don't know, but if you run into either of these problems (and looking at the reviews they seem fairly common), I do recommend resetting the camera and starting again, it usually sorts the problem. Overall I now have a great home CCTV system that works as advertised with battery life better than I expected, so I'm very happy - it just takes a little effort to get there !

Easy and quick to both setup and install. Works as advertised. Solar panels are keeping the battery topped up. I'm pleased with it's quality and performance. Integrates well with Alexa. One very minor issue; I'm not sure if it's because of the angle it's capturing movement at but it often tracks people as "motion" instead of "person". I set it at 2.5 metres high which is within the recommended installation height. Not a big deal.

So far so good. Good response from the Tapo app as usual. Solid quality as always from Tapo, better built than many other brands. Detection is smart, it has four different AI detection - motion, person, pet and vehicle so this comes in handy. You can also set detection area similar to many other brands. Battery capacity is huge, how long it will last depends on your settings. I also installed the solar panel will see how it charges the camera. It is relatively simple to set up mainly using the app. The image and video is extremely clear as it is 2K. It comes with a lot of rubber seals around the cables which is great very thoughtful design. For connection, it shows strong signals. Happy with the product! At this price, don’t think you can get a better camera with solar panel than this!!

My initial concern before I bought this kit was battery charge during the winter and waterproof. Guess what' ever since I bought this, which is like 4 months now, it's always got full charge every day. And this was during the winter Nov to March. Perhaps its the location of the garden getting enough sunshine everyday. And I've never had any problem with water ingress into the kit. The camera has got excellent picture quality, senses movement without any problem. It is so easy and straight forward to install. Though pairing the camera with my phone, in order to set it up proved a little bit of a challenge. But that could be because I have an S9 plus Samsung phone which was 6 years old. When I initial bought it, you could not connect this camera to use the Tapo Hub memory, which came with my Tapo camera front doorbell. However, 2 months later, an update allowed the use of the Hub. But I've already bought the memory card anyway. Perhaps they should have released the software update before I spent 32quid on memory card I'm no more using. The Tapo app is one of the reasons why this kit is an experience. Navigating through the app is so easy and uncomplicated. Overall, this is a good kit in terms of quality, performance, robustness and full waterproof. I wish I knew and had gotten this camera years ago.

Although the solar panel failed after 14 months, this camera has proved to be of excellent quality and value, despite detecting pigeons as humans (probably need to make some adjustments, but not too bothered). The major positive is the longevity of the battery charge with the solar panel efficiently topping the battery up to 100%, even in the winter. Talking of the panel, this was replaced under warranty and although the process was a little long winded, Rosalind at TP-Link was excellent with clear instructions to follow and was efficient in every way in getting my replacement sent promptly. Thus I highly recommend both the camera and TP-Link for quality, whose other products I have a few of.

The Tapo C425 has really impressed me so far. Setup was straightforward and the app makes it very simple to manage. The video quality is excellent – crisp and clear during the day, and the night vision is surprisingly sharp too. The battery life is strong and easily lasts weeks between charges, which makes it very convenient. I like that it’s completely wireless, so I could place it exactly where I wanted without worrying about cables. Motion detection works well, with alerts coming through quickly on my phone. Overall, it feels solid, reliable, and very user-friendly. For the price, I think it offers excellent value and peace of mind. I’ll likely be adding a second one soon to cover another area.

Okay I don't really leave reviews but I am a little shocked I don't even know where to start. I set this camera up as per the manual and read every detail. There are a few issues so I will go one by one. I keep getting motion notifications every 5 minutes. Not sure what triggers it. There is a tree like 10 feet away I am thinking this might be causing it but thought their algorithm would prevent this as advertised. This causes my camera to stay on quite often and my battery dropped to 80% within one week. It will certainly not last as advertised. This issue causes hundreds of notifications on my phone as well. Their app is supposed to be able to mute motion notifications but it does not work so I cannot even mute them. This camera also is not able to differentiate between pets and humans. Every time a cat walks on the street or my driveway I get a 'person detected' notification despite the fact that pet detection has its own category as they claim... Worst and most unacceptable and probably the most ridiculous part is that it absolutely does not detect and record what I need it to. I set this up on my driveway and had tens of deliveries since then, not a single one of them was captured. I walk on my driveway, water the plants, wave at the camera and come back inside. It only records me just as I am leaving or after I have left. This is actually quite scary and serious. Really unfit for purpose. Don't know what to do at this stage. I changed all the sensitivity settings and played around and this hasn't made a difference. It sometimes detects people walking on the street so far away though. Such a bizarre camera.

Firstly I have to mention Amazon Prime delivery, ordered 3pm delivered 8pm same day! 👏👏 The camera is easy (ISH) to setup, once you've registered with a TP link account you can share access to it with other registered users/family etc. The picture quality is very good, installation is also easy with options including a magnetic mount. The solar panel is very good at keeping the battery topped up. Recommended 👍

This camera was very easy to set up with the Tapo app. It also works flawlessly with iSpy monitoring software making a subscription unnecessary. The IR is excellent and much better than other similar camera (Foscam C2, Wyze V3). The non-IR low-light vision is very good. I tested this in a completely dark garage with an ordinary night-light and I can see the whole area well, albeit at a lower resolution (grainy). Person-detection worked perfectly in all lighting scenarios.
