Twelve year old Sipho runs away from his family because of his violent and drunken stepfather, he has heard that gangs of children live on the streets. Its a hard life with hunger and the colds of winter, although he finds many friends among the street children he has to contend with being beaten up and nearly drowned and someone trying to kill him. At one stage he is taken in by a white family but he has to learn who he can and can't trust.
