Fabulous!
I have just received this book and it is what I expected and more. It offers 29 projects, mostly bags - do not be fooled by the title - there are only two or three quilts. There is a lot of appliqué and a little of embroidery, the instructions in my opinion are very clear, the projects are beautiful and the photos are good. The color range is what you see on the title - neutral. If you like taupe, beige and brown, and tone-in-tone, this is for you!The author's technique is accomplished and the designs are impressive. Just flipping through the pages makes me want to take a needle in hand and start right away!

Excellent resource!
Just what what I had been waiting for: indepth, hand building sewing, visually challenging, and having an Asian touch to the design and to the sewing technique. Patterns are included and easy to understand. May I offer one caution: Assure that the pattern is included in the inside back cover - two full sized pieces ( A and B, C and D) and folded in its envelope. My first book had only one! Each piece takes on its own personality.

Cute and nicely detailed, mostly purse projects
I've been a fan of Yoko Saito's work for many years and was very excited about this new book. I love the wonderful taupe and earth tone colors of her work, and the projects in this book are wonderful examples of this use of color. The directions seem thorough and clear, but I admit I haven't had a chance to try them and I also feel a bit intimidated by the precise piecing and appliqué of her work - but its inspiring at the same time as intimidating. My only complaint is that the pictures seem rather dark; they are clear enough to see the projects, but I feel that the projects would stand out more and benefit from better lighting (thus 4 stars rather than 5).If you are considering purchasing this book, you should know that most of the patterns are for purses. There are 29 projects in the book, and of these 3 are quilts, 18 are purses, and there are also patterns for baskets, an apron and cushions. I love Saito's bags so I am happy with the book, but for those that are expecting quilts might be disappointed. I didn't think the description of the book described the projects well, so hopefully that's helpful for you. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

Great option for quilters
Very interesting methods of quilting that offer may sophisticated looks. There is a full set of patterns attached, which is really handy. I can quilt but it's not my first choice in textile work so being excited about doing complete hand-quilting might offer you an idea of how much I value what I have read in this book.

Very interesting book.
This book broadens the horizons of quilters and inspires crafters. Beautiful ideas but sewing novices may not have all the instructions they need. I am a handbag nut so the fact that many of the projects involve purses is a plus for me. The actual quilt projects are moderate in size making them less intimidating to those of use who don't have a lot of time. The color selections look modern and sophisticated while the crafts themselves are timeless.
