I work in technology/electronics and I needed a cheap and easy way to look at the differences in chip thermal performance when driven at different frequencies.The dot size produced by the gun can provide an overview measurement when further away, or a very localised measurement when much closer. I’m not sure exactly how this is calibrated but when measuring a 2cm x 2cm CPU I was able to find hotspots and compare that to broad cross surface measurements. Long story short the device has helped calculate and validate thermal management of my development system and be confident of the result.That’s the boring work stuff out of the way. If you love to geek out being able to remotely measure the temperature of things is a cool too (I must get out more!). As you can see from the photos my freezer and kettle are providing a sensible calibration. Skin temperature of the dog, road tarmac, the inside of lava hot macdonalds apple pies have all provided good science based thrills. If that floats your boat.A single press gives a single reading, or hold the trigger for a continuous measure. That’s pretty much the instructions.

i bought this item to check the heater on my car, i needed to measure the inlet temperature and out let temp. this did the job easily. solved a problem for me. also just for fun i checked my fish tank water temp.. spot on reading. recommend to anyone.. PS its not for medical readings..ordered at 9pm Sat, turned up 1330 Sunday well packaged ease to use even includes the battery which is fitted with ease.

I bought it to identify cold spots around the house and indeed it there readings pin pointed differences of 2-3 degrees in as little of 30cm apart (which was nevertheless obvious) As of the accuracy, as other customers said, I cannot comment as I did not calibrated the instrument against a standard. If you want exact temperature, maybe this is not the most appropriate device, but if you are after a rough approximation its very much fit for purpose.

Postage/delivery was quick (I bought it on Prime next day delivery) & the thermometer seems well built & works fine.I can't comment on accuracy but when I tested it against a spirit thermometer the temperature displayed was close enough to make no difference. It's sensitive enough to show the temperature differences between the different surfaces of a Leslie cube. The display is clear & the laser helps you aim the thermometer.I've no complaints at all & at the price I paid I consider it to be a bit of a bargain & money well spent.

Very pleased with this - it gives a nearly instant, and seemingly accurate, reading of surface temperatures at the press of the trigger and has already shown which of my house walls are colder than others (the part of the wall between the integral garage and the kitchen is 3 degrees C. colder than the part of the wall between kitchen and study.

It have nothing to compare its accuracy with other then what i think my fridge and freezer are and they seemed right!Originally bought to monitor temps in my geckos vivarium my son uses it to see the temperature of everythingEasy to use no issues

I am a project engineer in plastics (Thermoforming) and use this type of temperature reading apparatus on a regular basis as the NO CONTACT is very important due to the heat range being so high that I’m testingHowever in this instance I purchased this one for my reptile vivarium so I know I can check the hot end and cool end is correct so this product is more accurate than any stick on theremometer

Used for our bearded dragon and leopard gecko set ups. Much more accurate than static thermometers in the vivs. Very easy to use and comfortable to hold to check basking spot temperatures. Definitely recommend this product.
