The Best Space Wolf Book Yeti’s
Honestly, the Space Wolves of Wolfsbane are what I wish the Heresy-era wolves were the whole time.Fierce, wise, VIKING, pagan berserkers driven by honor and pragmatism. This may be heretical but I enjoyed this book even more than Prospero Burns. I felt like I understood the characters better, it was easier to empathize, and the culture of the ‘Rout’ was on full display is the best way.Plus Russ’ vision may be my favorite scene in all of Warhammer.

Good stories . Shame so many wolves got skinned on the battle
Good pace, nice switch from space marines to the mechani good guy vs evil, as tough as the SW are they seem to die quick. War master almost saw the light...I was looking for a rescue from the loyal SMarine and Imperium shipsNow have to wait another 2 months for next.I have all the H H series. Include another 125 black library books.Cant get ENOUGH

Magnifique
Wow. For a long time Horus Heresy serie is disapointment after disapointment. I had very low expectations for this book but i was wrong. Very Wrong. This was one of the best books in HH. I do not like Space Wolves and Leman Russ (#Magnus did nothing wrong) but author made me like them.We see the man Leman Russ is under the mask of barbarian. We see his inner self, his devotion to Emperor. He accepts his legion’s exceptionalism. He confronts Horus about his treason in general and Prospero in particular. We also see origins of Belisarius Cawl and his genius. There is no boring part in the book. Tempo is always up and there are no filler chapters. There are lots of primarchs’ scenes.I strongly recommend this book.

Quick read but good...
Quick read but good. I really enjoyed learning more about Russ directly from Russ. It is hard to find books on him at all and if he is a character he usually doesnt say or do much in the story. This one also left me with a lot of questions but I am super into the 40K lore.

Russ' Folly
I actually didn't want to purchase this book because I'm not a fan of Space Wolves and Russ, but after a change of heart and reading through, this became one of my top Horus Heresy reads. Very different perspective to Russ through this author, you know how it's been hit and miss with many books, but he does a fantastic job of story telling. Because of this, I also decided to read through Belisarius Cawl; this was an interesting character who took the spotlight with Russ and Horus. Very rarely do I like the titles, I feel they lead the reader away from what the author really wants to set up, so for this one, instead of Wolfsbane, I would choose, Russ' Folly. Read it and find out why, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

A big undercard fight
Russ vs Horus. Good if you like space wolves - lots of wolf terms & viking stuff. Overdone as usual, but still good - and a big piece of the story of the march to Terra.

Powerful fight scenes and graphic descriptions, you can really see it all in your mind!
The text was easy to read, could not put the book down, read it all in one day. Exciting read, great epic battles and great description of characters. Can not wait till next book.

It was good
Well this book was good. Not great but good.Aside from a pretty slow and dull start with the Mechanicum story arc featuring Belisarius Cawl, this book was good.Though Russ and the Rout are not my favourite loyalists, it does not diminish my respect for them. Here we see a very diminished Space Wolf force embark on a desperate and suicidal gambit: kill the Warmaster before he can launch his attack on Terra. We also get into Russ' head which is cool as well as explore some of the darker places of Fenris.Even though we as the audience already know the outcome of this battle, I give Russ an A for his effort to kill Horus. And my word, the death tally was high because of Russ' failure...Also, seeing a young Cawl was pretty intriguing. The book really shines in the last 60 pages or so while the rest is a bit of a slow pace with good parts as well as the occasional filler.Fenris Hjolda.

Another good read in the series and of the best about Leman Russ. You get yet more insight about the inner workings of the primarch and his relation to his Legion and home(s).The story also closes another story arc from "Weregeld".

Another step closer
49 books into the series, slowing getting closer to the finale. Wolfsvane has been a good one, helping to advance the main plot.
