OrthoPro HyperEx Knee Brace for Hyperextension & Instability L1850

My husband has MS and needed this brace for his knee. He wears this in addition to his AFO for foot drop. His physical therapist was thrilled with the fit and how well it helped him to walk.

I would have given it a 5 star review until this weekend. However, if it can’t last 4 months of intermittent use, I’d say look for another option. So sad.

This genuinely did work when it was functioning. The problem is that I used it very infrequently, and while it worked well when I did use it, it eventually snapped. I repaired it, and all was good for a while, but then it snapped again and broke beyond repair. I live in Bali, so I bought this when I came back to the States. I want to say I spent almost $400 on it, which makes the fact that it broke so easily particularly disappointing. I’m currently waiting to hear back from the company to see if they will replace or exchange it. I’m hoping they will because I don’t mind using the product. It genuinely worked for what I needed it for. I’m just quite disappointed with how easily it broke, especially considering how infrequently I used it. If they replace the product, I’ll amend and update this review to reflect that. I’d like to be able to report that they stand behind their products, but at this point, I’m still waiting to hear back from them. My suggestion, if you do buy this, would be to go to Home Depot or somewhere similar and reinforce the back plate with metal. The product itself worked for me, but that part simply did not hold up.

My left knee tends to hyperextend after a spinal cord injury. As a result I don't put much weight on that side with has let me gait well off balance. I haven't used this much but it does prevent the hypertension so I'm hopeful that with time, I will trust my left side more and improve my gait.

They brake on the back side

I really wanted to like this product, but comfort-wise it has been disappointing. The fit around the thigh area is especially problematic — the extra skin there gets pinched while moving, which makes it very uncomfortable to wear for more than a short time. Instead of feeling supported, it ends up hurting and distracting throughout the day. If comfort is your priority, this might not be the right choice.
