Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska

Nebraska has always been one of my favourite Springsteen albums and Zanes' work takes a deep dive into the context, circumstances and Bruce's state of mind in creating, recording and releasing Nebraska. Two things help to make this book more authoritative - Zanes' background as a rock musician and his afternoon of access to Springsteen. There is a surprise, a real teat at the end of the book, but I won't ruin it for the perspective reviewer in this review.

Well written book. I am a big Bruce fan, so it was interesting to read about this stage of his life. They did not gloss-over the raw parts. It was honest story telling.

El libro trata de explicar el contexto historico de la época en que se realiza el album de "Nebraska" junto con las inquietudes personales y artisticas de Bruce en esos tiempos. Un vistazo profundo más de lo que simplemente se reseña acerca del álbum y que quizá sin éste "Born In The Usa" no hubiera sido posible. Son álbumes hermanos. Recomendado para los verdaderos fans o quienes tengan un conocimiento acerca de sus canciones y obra ya que hay algunas explicaciones e historias que serían un poco vagas si no se tiene un antecedente de su discografía aunque esto no es indispensable. Nebraska es la continuación de la vida de esos personajes salidos de la inocencia de Born To Run, la angustia de Darkness on the Edge Of Town y las responsabilidades de The River.

Great artist, great author, great book! Fascinating to read about the genesis of a wonderful work of musical art!
