Good, but tiny font
Very informative book, with good information about growing different varieties both for yield and appearance, but the font is tiny (eight or nine point for most of it: the book would be a lot more comfortable to read if it were twice as large) and he greatly underestimates how long some crops can be stored.

Useful info.
Useful book but print is small, hence 4 stars.

Perfect for me as a slightly rubbish gardener!
Lovely book. My first copy was bought for me by my mother… I managed to leave it out in the rain… I picked this one up 2nd hand and it’s great!

This one star is not a comment on the content ...
This one star is not a comment on the content of the book, rather the fact that the paperback version is illegible due to the tiny font size used. I've had my eyes lasered. The book isn't tiny, but gives you then feeling that they have taken a larger hardback and not reformatted for the smaller size paperback. A cheap trick I think they have used to save money.I'll be returning this book for a human sized one.

Truthful Review from a Gardening Critic
Few gardening books would be worthy of a five star rating but this book deserves five stars plus. It includes everything you need and want to know (plus more) in a book. I don’t like the negative criticisms but the font and size is good (and believe you me, my eyes are far from perfect). The content is marvellous, and this book does exactly what it says on the tin. Some things don’t need a thousand words to put a point across or sell something, nor does this book need to be served on a silver plater because this is one of the best - stuff all the other books of gardening upon gardening books and newer editions; I have a large library of gardening books because of my interest in this area and this book beats every single one of them with many paces in front. Finally this was written by a man who knows his stuff and has the knowledge and experience to show for it in the produce he produces. The information is straight to the point and very informative without long glossy words (which I hate and are certainly not needed in any guide book, let alone a gardening book). All fruits and vegetables plus herbs and edible flowers that one would want to grow are in this book. What’s most impactful is how this book empowers you into gardening which is a rare to find in a book (and quite frankly off putting).Only when other gardening books and yes some gardening shows on TV focus of empowering people to grow food and get down to the guide not the (how wonderful the gardening author sounds) will the ordinary man, woman and child actually have a go at growing something truly wonderful. Also some gardening shows on TV and some gardeners on these shows need too get rid of the snobbery, image and remove the ‘done up’ image of themselves and their gardens and get down to the earth quality of gardening and having a garden in the first place; the point people go into a garden is to forget oneself and feel connected to nature not ego, self, image and snobbery.
