I wanted to give my plants time to grow/die before writing a review of this product. First of all, I would never buy it for a gift because of the horrendous misspelling of the word "Gourmet" on the outside of the box. Fortunately I bought this for myself so I didn't need to worry. I will agree with other reviews that this kit is very easy to use, it has detailed instructions and the peat pods make it far less messy than dealing with potting mix. In the end though, I'd rather deal with the potting mix. My herbs continuously grow mold, but my other indoor plants that I've used potting mix with do not. Out of the 8 herbs included, only 5 of mine have survived. The sage never sprouted, even though I followed the instructions to a T. The thyme sprouted but quickly died, and the chives lasted for over a month and then died shortly thereafter. Only 2 of the basil seeds sprouted, which was a little disappointing because some of the other plants (like my cilantro) have many little plants growing well. If I could do it all over again, which I may since this kit was so cheap, I would just buy small pots, some potting soil, and some seeds from a legit company that knows how to spell gourmet.

I absolutely love this kit. I wanted to grow an herb garden inside, especially since I have an excellent window where all my plants have thrived all year long. Bought a nice oblong planter (Adams deluxe 36" planter- available on Amazon) along with this kit. The seller even sent me a PDF of the instruction book immediately after purchase and immediately responded to an email question before I even received it! Directions are easy and there is no mess (because of peat pots and pellets) which is important when gardening indoors! For a novice gardener, (although I am not) the directions and growing guidance is invaluable. Ashbrook did a 👍🏻 job!

These were nicely packaged and very easy to plant. The small planting manual explained the whole process in nice detail. There was also a ton of seeds.I will post an update once I start seeing them sprout.Update:I planted these 3weeks ago and all have sprouted, except for sage. My Dill and Thyme started sprouting about a week after planting. I'm very very pleased with this purchase. I definitely will be getting more of these. Super thrilled!!!

I have been growing my plants for about 4 weeks and all of my plants are doing very well except for the thyme. Originally it did very well but the plant was killed by the white mold that others have complained about. After doing some research this white mold seems to be a common problem in soil that occurs after over-watering. I am new to gardening and the thyme seemed to barely need any water, so I may not have any thyme but I have learned a lot with this little indoor garden. This kit could be greatly benefited by having a more comprehensive guide for beginners on when to transplant, and how big of a pot the plant will eventually need to go into, or what type of soil to use, or when you can harvest the plant; the guide doesn't seem to extend beyond the plant being a seedling, but overall I was happy with my purchase.

I have been a gardener for many years but I couldn't get these herbs to grow big enough to use, even after 4 months, so had to throw them all away. The basil got to almost an inch tall but the others didn't get that tall. Some grew mold and had to be tossed. I gave them all the right growing conditions: plenty of light, warmth, and water. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, no matter how good a gardener you are.

I bought this as a gift and she loved it! I wish I could say more but I didnt use it myself.

A great kit. Was easy to get started and the guide helps a lot! I'm a beginner so have no idea what each plant needs. One of my plants molded and one didn't germinate but after talking with the company (who is amazing at communicating) they replaced the plants to let me try again. All of the other herbs are doing awesome! They started to sprout after about 6 days!! And they get a little taller each day! So happy with my results and the companies awesome customer service!!

I have never done any kind of gardening before short of using my woodworking skills to build several raised planter beds for my former wife. It seems that I have been bitten by the "gardening bug" just this year and I am enjoying the results tremendously. A friend helped me assemble this most excellent Herb Garden Starter Kit, and the herb seeds are enjoying their transformation into impressive plants. Many thanks to Ashbrook Outdoors... I will be buying the kit repeatedly in the future as well as recommending it to all my heat-loving friends!
