Nice video doorbell, with local storage
I was originally considering a Ring doorbell, but since they require a subscription to save recordings, I decided to go with the ReoLink doorbell. The ReoLink Doorbell also has a subscription service for cloud storage, but they also offer the option to install a Micro SD card inside the doorbell unit which will save recordings. In this way, I can avoid having to pay a subscription charge, meaning that this more expensive doorbell will pay for itself in a couple of years by saving me money on subscriptions. I actually had to contact ReoLink tech support when I was trying to set up this doorbell, because the doorbell unit would not scan the QR code on my phone to continue the process. However, Reo link tech support was very responsive to my emails, and sent me a postage mailing label to send the unit back via the Postal Service. Within a few days I got back a new video doorbell, and it went through the setup process just fine with no problems. The ReoLink app is very good, and has a lot of options for setting up your doorbell, even a whole variety of colors that the LED doorbell button can be set to. The quality of this product seems quite good, and the tech support is very good.. The only thing I don't love is how to release the doorbell from its bracket. It comes with a little tool that's like a little pin that you stick in the top and then pull the doorbell away from its bracket, but it doesn't release easily and takes a lot of fiddling and trying. I think they should come up with a better secure release system. Otherwise I am happy with this video doorbell.

A fantastic, no‑subscription smart doorbell with great clarity and smart detection.
Clear, crisp video and a perfect head‑to‑toe viewThe first thing you notice with this doorbell is the 2K (4MP) clarity. Faces, packages, and movement are all easy to see, even from a distance. The 150° x 150° head‑to‑toe view is a huge upgrade over traditional wide‑only doorbells — you can see packages on the ground and the person standing at your door without distortion.Battery-powered but still fast and responsiveI was skeptical about going battery‑powered, but Reolink nailed it. The doorbell wakes quickly, streams smoothly, and doesn’t feel sluggish like some battery models. The battery life has been solid so far, and because it supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi, the connection stays stable.Local storage = no monthly feesThis is one of the biggest selling points. You can store recordings locally on a microSD card, so you’re not forced into a subscription. For anyone tired of paying $3–$10 a month for cloud storage, this is a breath of fresh air.Smart detection that actually worksThe AI detection for people, vehicles, and packages is surprisingly accurate. It cuts down on false alerts and makes notifications more meaningful. I especially like that you can customize motion zones and sensitivity.Two-way talk is clear and reliableThe microphone and speaker quality are better than expected. Conversations sound natural, and there’s very little delay. What to know before buyingChime is NOT included, so you’ll need to buy the Reolink Chime separately if you want indoor alerts.Because it’s battery‑powered, it won’t ring an existing wired chime.Reolink’s app is great, but it’s not as “ecosystem-heavy” as Ring or Nest — which is a plus or minus depending on your preference. What I love mostNo subscription requiredExcellent 2K clarityTrue head‑to‑toe viewAccurate smart detectionDual-band WiFi supportSolid battery performanceBottom LineIf you want a high-quality, subscription-free, battery-powered video doorbell, the Reolink 2K Battery Doorbell is one of the best options available. It’s reliable, sharp, and packed with features without forcing you into a monthly plan. Highly recommended.

Very good camera with one major flaw and a couple of annoyances
This is a very good camera, however it has one huge flaw that is a major issue to me. The pinhole release from the mounting base to recharge the camera is nearly impossible to open. It took me 20 minutes the first time, now I need to recharge and just spent another 20 minutes and can't get it out. The latch mechanism is very poorly designed -- it would be trivially easy to make a latch that easy to release, but Reolink apparently hasn't done this. I would not have bought camera if I knew this because it makes me dread recharging (and I'm honestly not sure I'll be able to get the unit off without breaking the base). It seems to get worse each time, because the internal latch is too small and too weak. The minor annoyances are that it doesn't have any short tones for or sleep function for motion alerts. All of the tones sound like different versions of a doorbell ring. They should have short tones for motion, people, package delivery that don't sound like doorbells, that don't play for several seconds, and that are distinguishable from each other. Also, there is no "sleep timer" for chime motion alerts. When the yard is being cut, I want alerts to sleep for an hour -- there is no way to do that, you have to shut off alerts. Both of these annoyances seem easily fixed, so it's surprising Reolink hasn't done this already.

It Sees All and Tells All
This REOLINK doorbell is an absolute tank. The 150°x150° head-to-toe view? It’s so good, I’m pretty sure it can see the disappointment in my soul when the delivery driver drops off junk mail instead of a package. The best part is definitely the no subscription needed! It’s nice to have a camera that doesn't want to get into a long-term financial relationship with me. Installation was easy—just remember that if you got the wired version, the "few days to fully charge" isn't a suggestion; it's a silent, non-negotiable staring contest with your power outlet. Now, for the fun part: the fine-tuning. Get ready to spend a delightful weekend teaching your camera the difference between an actual intruder and a rogue tumbleweed, or a falling leaf. You will receive many, many notifications. Your phone will vibrate so much, you'll think you're living inside a pinball machine. But once you’ve successfully tamed the notification beast, this camera is great. You can truly see all, from the top of the mailman's hat to the state of their shoes. Just charge it up, set aside some time for the notification therapy, and enjoy your new, vigilant electronic sentry. Highly recommend!

Great brand, but this doorbell misses the mark for use in home assistant.
I purchased the Reolink battery-powered doorbell mainly because Reolink has gold status with Home Assistant — that was my #1 reason. I already own several Reolink cameras and have been very happy with them. This was meant to replace a Eufy doorbell, which I liked overall, but it didn’t integrate with Home Assistant and their support left a lot to be desired.Unfortunately, this doorbell hasn’t lived up to expectations.Setup:I ran into issues setting this up with an iPhone. Not impossible, but definitely not smooth.Powering:The biggest issue is the battery. It drains quickly in high-traffic areas, meaning constant recharges. The 24V option is only a “trickle” charge — if the battery drains fully, it can take a half-day just to boot back up, and days to recharge. During this time, the device can also get hot.Wi-Fi:On 2.4GHz, it’s fairly stable, but notifications are slower. On 5GHz, unless your router is right next to the doorbell, expect frequent disconnects and occasional full power cycles just to reconnect.Motion Detection:Not great. I ended up using an external mmWave sensor with Home Assistant to trigger snapshots and notifications more reliably.Mounting:Mounting on siding can be tricky. If you have a 3D printer, you’ll be much happier printing a sturdier custom mount.Home Assistant Integration:This was supposed to be the selling point, but you’ll need the Reolink hub — the doorbell won’t integrate without it.Bottom line:I love most of Reolink’s products — they’re usually reliable and integrate beautifully. But this one? In my opinion, it’s a flop. Unless you want to tinker, recharge constantly, and DIY your way out of problems, I’d suggest looking at other options.TL;DRBattery drains fast, trickle charge is slow and hot, Wi-Fi is flaky, motion detection is weak, setup on iPhone was a hassle, and siding mount is awkward (unless you 3D print your own). Needs the hub for Home Assistant.Edit:I raised the star level to 4, honestly it is a decent product as long as you use it as a stand alone door bell. I do still feel that the customer should be able to understand the limitations prior to buying the product, “clearly and concise” descriptions.

It works, has a few limitations.
I really like that this does not requirement to have the device connected to some service and that I don't have to have an account in order to access everything.I've had a few annoyances with it though. I have the battery only version. I find I have to charge this thing several times a month. I had another brand previously and that one I only had to charge that one less than once a month. maybe 6 weeks or so on similar quality settings. I've also found if you let it completely drop to 0 charge that it will not properly connect back to the network once fully charged. You have to reset the device and re-set it up.It also seems inconsistent on detection. It sometimes does not alert me when someone comes up to the door. I will sometimes get a very delayed notice of a package but nothing about the delivery person coming up to my door. A couple of times, someone rang the doorbell and it never alerted me. I only knew about it because I could hear the doorbell itself.I wish it had the ability to announce when it was recording someone. Had a couple of times someone was snooping around the driveway where this is pointed late at night. Would have been nice if it had announced they were being recorded and scare them off. Instead of me having to connect to it and ask them what they wanted so they would run off. Also feels weird that you cannot save a recording you just watched to your local device. You have to manually transfer from the SDcard.

Android phone, easy install and super happy so far
So I just bought this camera and wanted to share my experience with set up and an android phone. Setup: pretty straight forward, as I installed Into my stucco where my existing doorbell was. The doorbell I had was a mechanical doorbell, but the mechanical piece doesn't actually work as at some point it melted. During I stallation the app will ask you questions including if you are wiring it or going wireless and will then give you Instructions to proceed. That made setup a little easier as I didn't have to look at instructions I just did the step on my phone and clicked next. I used the provided wedge to give the camera a straighter view since my wall is angled and would point directly at the other wall. The wedge is an awesome add and helped put the camera where I needed/wanted it. Wiring it to my existing doorbell wasn't "necessary" since mine is broken, but it keeps the doorbell fully charged all the time since power is going to it. I got the reolink doorbell to go with the camera to replace the old mechanical one. Pairing the camera was easy and straight forward and the doorbell I got with it was even easier. I literally plugged it in to a wall outlet and pressed the little button and it linked with the camera with a little beep, and I set the chime in the app. Too easy. I did need to make adjustments in the app for the camera sensitivity since at first it wouldn't detect me beyond a certain point on my sidewalk. Now it will get people in the street. Phone: I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and I read something about calls, but only for ios. I didn't really understand this feature, until my wife rang the doorbell. The doorbell called my phone kind of like what you would see from Facebook messenger. When you answer it pulls up a live video and you can talk to the person on your phone, so even though it says "ios only" I believe this feature worked on my Samsung S24 ultra. One last note: I bought a "Blink" SD card since it was the cheapest and have had zero issues. The reolink brand card was way more expensive, and I wasn't sure if there would be some issue with brand name. No issues, would purchase again. I love not having to pay a subscription fee.

Good video quality, need improvements
The doorbell video quality is good and no issues with WiFi connectivity. Motion detection is much better than Ring doorbell camera and able to include few seconds before motion. Some improvements needed:1) Battery charging issueThe battery drain daily. Even after disabling recording and motion detection, wired power source and solar panel couldn’t keep up.Originally, the door bell was connected to existing very old door bell wires that came from the house. Battery drops about 5% each day.Next, we tried attaching to DC 5V / 5 Watts solar panel for camera. Even under strong sunny days, battery depletes about 2% each day.The doorbell currently requires moving indoors to wall charge every 2-3 months with video recording and motion detection disabled.Hopefully new software update will resolve this issue.2) Difficult sharing camera with second device and familyI was surprised to find out that Reolink app does not remember each of the already configured camera when I login on second device. In order to family member to access camera, they need to scan a QR code generated on my device that i used to setup the camera. The Reolink app requires that I continue to grant each family permission. Why can’t an user grant their family member indefinite access.Review Updated on 2/4 : Seller support contacted me and offered refund and offered technical support.

How is this not the UK’s No 1?
Reolink have done a good job of this. I was very nervous about the wiring and compatibility issues but the instructions and video assistance support is all really clear and easy to understand. I removed our button from the front door and hard-wired this Reolink camera using the spare cables they provide. I’m pretty sure my power to the doorbell is less than the recommended voltage but it still seems to be enough for it to function correctly and maintain its charge. Does not require any subscription as others have mentioned and if you’ve got other Reolink cameras around the property it’s super easy to add to your existing network via the app, like a Lego set you can keep expanding on! It’s also a very good-looking doorbell with great angle and picture quality. When you go back to review recorded events, each thumbnail has an icon (person, car or pet) to indicate what moving object triggered the recording. Very helpful as means you can filter history to what you are looking for. Lots of flexible options like how sensitive the motion detector is, a variety of ring tone noises and volume control. Talk back feature, night vision and status indicators. I really struggle to fault this unit, very impressed!

It's ok. No idea why there isn't a perfect solution on the market
Good: No cloud subscription, works with existing chimes, easy to install, camera is of adequate quality. Seems to drip charge off the existing wiring. Supports a wide range of voltages from the wiring.Bad: Really needs better API and integration possibilities (for example to work with Home Assistant, or Apple HomeKit - to do that you need the Reolink hub). Notifications seem really hit and miss, sometimes we get them, sometimes we don't, sometimes we get too many - at least the doorbell always works. App is the usual badly developed poor UX from China nonsense. It's a little too easy to remove.

Excellent
This product delivers exactly as advertised, and even exceeds expectations in some areas. For me, the standout feature is the exceptional battery life. It lasts so long that I honestly can’t remember the last time I charged it—easily two months or more between full charges. That’s a huge improvement over my previous device from a well-known brand, which required much more frequent charging. Overall, I’m very impressed.

Amazing
After 3 months, I can confidently say that this product is fantastic. I switched to Reolink after constantly battling with my cameras from a different brand and my only regret is not switching sooner. Since this camera supports dual frequency (2.4 & 5.0), I have no connectivity issues like I had with my other cameras. The camera has been extremely reliable and the video quality is great. I've only had to recharge the doorbell once so far so I'm really impressed with the battery life, and removing it to charge it was really easy. The optional cloud storage feature is extremely reasonably priced too, so I subscribed and can now review the last 30 days of recording from the website in addition to my iPhone. It's also very easy to export a recording to share it, which is another issue I had with my previous cameras.
