My daughter loves this Kindle. Here are a few of the features we are enjoying:Amazon Kids:It was very easy to sign into her already existing Amazon Kids account. There was an offer that came with the purchase for a free subscription to Amazon Kids for x amount of time, which was nice, but it was not clear if that will be applied to our existing account that we pay for. The setup was very minimal and the parental controls can be managed from the parents phone. We chose not to put time limits on her Kindle because the lighting on the screen is like reading a book and I want to encourage her to read as much as she wants.Screen Quality:There is no glare on the screen and the lighting can adjust if you move from a dark room to a lighter room or outside. She also loves that there is a dark mode option so she can read at night without lights on and it does not hurt her eyes.Case:The Kids version of this kindle comes with a case. She chose the starfish option. The case is very colorful and she really enjoys the picture on it. I believe this case will protect the kindle adequately. She has dropped it/had some accidents with it and there has been no damage to the kindle. She was a little bummed that the case did not have a feature to stand it up without holding the Kindle, but she has adjusted to holding it or leaning it against things, so I would say over all it is a good case.Using the Kindle:For the most part the kindle works great! It is very easy to use. She is able to search for any book she can think of and find it. Most of the books she searches are already included in the subscription. The books that are not included seem to be a reasonable price. There has only been one book that she tried to search that we were not able to find. We have had the kindle for about a month and there have been two times that it froze and needed to be restarted, but works fine after the restart, so it has not been an issue. The settings are very easy to get into by clicking the top of the screen and they are user friendly/intuitive. Her books seem to download quickly and they will open immediately after downloading. The battery lasts forever on this thing. She uses it all the time and she just charged it for the second time after a month of having it. I would recommend using the charger that came with the Kindle. I'm not sure what is different about our phone chargers, but they do not work for it. It might be because they are super fast chargers and maybe the kindle can't have that? Not sure...Other:I really feel that this is a great product for getting kids to read more. My daughter has been reading everyday since this was delivered. She has always enjoyed reading, but the amount of time she spends reading has significantly increased! Also, I really enjoy that this is the exact same as my adult Kindle, so I know how to use it!

Love! I love everything about this. Not one complaint. The texture of the case is so smooth on the inside and the outside- I could pet it all day! The image on the case is super vibrant, you can literally read this anywhere- no glare in the sun, adjust brightness at night (I love the dark mode!) I didn't notice any difference in speed compared to my og kindle or my scribe- not a dig, it's all good, definitely fast enough for page turning and what not.I got this for my daughter to encourage more reading. She's loves it too, especially now she has her own Kindle like mommy.I'm not crazy about the weight- it's a touch too heavy for my liking but I also have carpal tunnel syndrome so maybe you won't mind at all.I freaking love that this thing is water proof! I'm so glad for that! There's no way I'd give my kids a piece of technology that isn't water proof- it would be easier to just go to the toilet and dump my money in there and flush lol.I also love that it came with SIX whole months of kindle kids unlimited! And tons of free books like Harry Potter! I'm having her read the book and then we watch the movie- so fun!You can also switch from kids mode to adult and you can even add books to your kids library from your account. Ah-mazing.Please disregard reviews that complain about there not being books for teens- these people had the opportunity to see what content is available for KIDS unlimited and they obviously did not. It's not hard to learn about what you're getting before you buy it. Sigh.

Was hesitant to purchase a kindle for my rising 2nd grade child. She hates everything about books… reading them, the texture of paper and book covers, the inability to zoom in or make text larger. This kindle has been a game changer for her. She has become a more independent reader, enjoys having ownership over her book selection from the vast library, loves listening to audio books as she falls asleep and loves having the ability to section on pages into paragraphs so she can more easily focus in a couple of paragraphs at a time. This has caused her to increase her reading time and has made my life easier with required daily reading minutes. Only complaint my child has had is that it is not in color.Kindle seems very sturdy. My child will be taking this back and forth from home to school to jiujitsu. Will update if it does not hold up well.

I got this as an adult, I traded in my 2017 Kindle for this one. It’s the exact same as the regular Paperwhite, but came with a case, 2 year warranty, and 6 months of Amazon Kids+, which my children will use and I will use to read to them from this Kindle. It was a great deal and less expensive than the adult Paperwhite. What an upgrade from my old one though! I am blown aaay by how fast it is and loving the warmth and brightness options. No more neck reading light for me, it’s nice to not have to fiddle with an extra accessory when wanting to read in the dark. I haven’t tested the waterproof abilities yet, but it’s nice to know it can stand getting wet when reading out by the pool this summer. All around a great buy and I am happy with my upgrade!

UPDATE upgrading from 3 to 4 stars: after giving it 3 stars because of not being able to use the 6 month kids+ subscriptions consecutively Amazon contacted me. They offered to refund my next 6-months amazon kids+ subscription to make sure I get to use both 6-month free trials. Cannot give 5 stars, because it took almost an hour of my time, and quite frankly should be automatic.Kindle itself is top notch, it’s our third. However - the free Amazon kids+ months CANNOT BE STACKED! Two of my kids for kindles at the same time and all I get is 6 months of kids+, so I feel like i’m not getting what I paid for…
