Change TV settings
Nice package. Beware that the picture quality is very poor - often borderline unwatchable, though that is undoubtedly due to the recording qualities of the time - though even the 1998 footage looks awful on a modern large TV. If you change your picture settings to square/normal, rather than widescreen, it matches the format it was recorded in and does help. I don't think you will find a better package showing highlights of all World Cup games up to 1998 anywhere else. Narration is good too.

Starts well but.....
This DVD starts really well showing much coverage of the first world cups that I had never seen. Considering how little coverage much be around from the 1930's they have done really well. Unfortunatly, before the end of the second DVD the coverage becomes restricted. It appears that they had to keep the set down to 4 DVD's as it was not possible to cover as much that was needed to do the world cup justice in this number of DVD's. In the earlier world cups there were less games so nearly all of these are used. When you get to the more recent world cups the group games are almost ignored.Could have been amazing but unfortunately falls short of the mark. Would still recommend buying it dispite my complaints.

Amazing Memories!
4 discs not 1 as shown in the listing.High-lights of the World Cup from 1930 to 1998 on 4 discs.Anyone who followed the World Cup from 1958 like I did will, I hope, be excited by the great memories which come flooding back with these DVDs.All the main heroes are there - Pele, Eusebio, Charlton, Maradona etc and scenes from the greatest teams ever are present - Brazil, Italy, Holland, West Germany, Argentina etc.The only problems being that even 4 discs is not enough and the high-lights are too short. The other annoying thing is the narration which constantly tells the viewer, in advance, what is going to happen. This is particularly annoying in the penalty shoot out matches. As a player runs up to the ball I don't want to know in advance, whether he scores or not!But overall an enjoyable trip down memory lane. the legend of the Fifa world cup
This is fantastic, I was particularly impressed with the interviews from some of the 1930 finalists in lieu of footage. It is definitely one of the best DVD's about the World Cup. My only complaint is of the 1998 coverage which seems rushed. But that aside it is the best 8 hours I have spent in a long time!!
