This review is for the Daopai Halloween Pumpkin Carving Kit, 33 PCSOverall: 5We've owned pumpkin carving kits in the past, and most of them got used once or twice and then ended up trasked or given away. None of the tools that came with those sets were very durable. This set seems to have addressed that issue with the five tools that get used with the most force, adapting handles often found on tools used by the DIYer, notably screwdrivers and files. The handles are comfortable and while the metal parts of the tools are formed and cut sheet metal, they seem fairly strong. The two tools with the cutting edges are sharp, something you'll appreciate. The smaller six tools are for 'detailed' work, and are not created with the same durability in mind. Using them for anything but light work will bend the metal parts, and over time, straightening them with work harden the metal, resulting in eventual fracture. The molded handles are not particularly ergonomic, particularly for someone with larger hands. Still, used properly and noting the possible issues, these tools should last for more than a season. The zippered storage bag is a nice touch, and all eleven of the kit's tools fit inside easily. The tealights are also a nice addition. One of the lights didn't appear to work initially, but running the switch through several on/off cycles remedied the issue.There are other kits that I've noted that come with a full-range of tools with the same durable handles that come with some of this kit's tools, though those kits are more expensive. Overall, this is a decent kit, and if you get more than a single season of use out of it, I think it'll be a bargain.

This is a great set for pumpkin and squash carving during the holidays.

Once we started having kids and carving pumpkins became something I was tasked with pumping out for everyone, I decided it was time for the cheap kits from Wally World to be a thing of the past. One year I got the electric carver, and the next some drill bits and better spoons. This year a real carving kit.I'm pumped, I tested a few of these out on an avocado and this year we are gonna be in business. It's been about 10 years since I took on a more challenging carving with crappy tools, so I'm thinking this might be the year to try to push myself again.For half of what you'd pay for plastic junk at the store, you can have something quality to reusable tools.High recommended investment for under $20.

I am pleasantly surprised that these are pretty strong. There isn't much flex between the handles and blades, and they have nice rubberized grips, which come in handy on slippery pumpkins. The kit comes with many patterns too, which is a time-saver bonus! Some designs are simple for smaller kids, and some are slightly more detailed, but nothing crazy. It also comes with a handy carrying bag so all the tools stay together for storage. Great kit for beginner carvers!

I really like the quality of this pumpkin carving set, especially considering the price. Everything comes individually wrapped in the box and is neatly packaged. When I pulled the tools out I was happy to see that the sharper ones have guards on them (I have a couple other sets and neither of them included guards on their tools). The 15 stencils included are a good variety of faces and designs. I suggest scanning them into your PC if you have access to a scanner. That way if they aren't usable after your first carving session, you can print them out and use again and again (it also allows you to play with the size of the stencil if you have vastly different size pumpkins). The carrying case fits everything nicely aside from the stencils (which are easily stored anywhere you keep paper) and is compact for seasonal storage. This is a great set for beginners and experts alike.

carving kit is great but the tea lights did not work. only 1 out of the pack worked

Start carving! This kit has everything. I like the detailed tools that comes with it. A lot of the kits only have the bigger ones that are great for the children or even the adults. But the smaller ones are awesome for someone who can make one of those really cool detailed jack-o-lanterns. It comes with a nice zipper bag that holds everything perfectly. The little plastic lights that you can put inside the jack-o-lantern have plastic pull tabs that save the battery so it's fresh when you do decide to use it. It also comes with stencils if you don't want to create a your own unique pumpkin face.
