Sonic and Seismic Bliss!
This is my second Nakamichi Dragon system! I bought my first one last year with quad 8" subs. This new Dragon, with its two 12" subs, paired with the two 12" subs I bought last summer, makes it a true 11.4.6 surround sound system. Additionally, the new firmware 3.9 update introduces Inferno Mode to the system, greatly enhancing low-end bass and sound pressure in the room. You don't just hear the bass, you feel it in your chest and under your couch, even at low volumes. Installation and setup are about as straightforward as you can get, within 30 minutes as advertised for a simple install. Planning, wall-mounting, and experimenting with surround and/or subwoofer placement may take more time if you have challenging installation requirements. There is no auto-room calibration. You can choose from default room configurations, but for best results you should manually enter the room dimensions. Not terribly time consuming, but you'll need a tape measure. The results are well worth it. Wiring won't be an issue. The Surround Satellites and 12" Subwoofers pair wirelessly and automatically to the Main Unit. I paired my components manually because of the additional subs, and getting a replacement Main Unit sent to me. The display on the first Main Unit was slightly crooked, which made it difficult to read. Nakamichi Concierge replaced the Main Unit immediately, and the replacement had no issues. Quick aside about the Nakamichi Concierge Service that comes complimentary with purchase of a Nakamichi Dragon. The service is nothing short of first rate! Nakamichi is really proud, and rightfully so, of this product. And nothing shows that pride more than their Concierge Service. Agents are attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to make sure your experience with the Dragon is all it should be. A true value all its own. Features of the Dragon are plentiful as the Main Unit functions the same as a high-end AV Receiver, complete with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Pro (Pro Cinema Engine), and enough inputs and outputs to meet the needs of any contemporary home theater set up. I do find CEC control a bit hit and miss with my other components, so I have it turned off preferring to manually select my input devices when I use them. Adaptive Height Dispersion technology, shared by upfiring drivers in the Main Unit and Surround Satellites, create an expansive soundscape above you. The Dragon is large! The Main Unit will require a substantial credenza to support its 58" width and 8" depth. It also stands about 4.5" tall, so best to plan for some clearance between it and your screen. It will block the bottom of your screen if it shares the same table as your TV. I planned for this system when mounting my TV, so no issues for me. I also mounted the Surrounds, which are the size of mid-sized bookshelf speakers. The 80 lb 12" subwoofers are what truly eat up real estate in your home theater. They're massive, so plan accordingly. And I recommend furniture slides if you expect to experiment with their placement at all. The remote control is attractive and lets you tweak every aspect of the unit, primarily by accessing the On-Screen Display (OSD). In addition to master volume, it also allows you to adjust bass, individual channel volume, and digital signal processing effects on the fly while enjoying your content. It also has two Favorite buttons, so you can recall your two most-preferred settings quickly. Usage is where the Dragon will make you rethink your desire to go out to the movies. This system is aimed at the home theater market, and home theater enthusiasts will truly appreciate its cinema-centric focus. When properly calibrated, music sounds great too, especially in surround. But the Dragon was built for movies! Movies of every era, genre, and format sound utterly fantastic through this system. You'll want to revisit your old favorites and experience new adventures with sonic authority. The AMT tweeters are bright and focus dialogue and effects with pinpoint accuracy. Midrange is healthy and natural, blending smoothly and seamlessly between the Main Unit, Satellites, and 12" Subwoofers. Bass, as you'd expect, is effortless and deep, the kind of downstairs seismic extension that celebrates both attacks and rumbles with precision and heft. Nakamichi's reference volume for the Dragon is 35 (35% of its total potential output of 100). In my space with Inferno Mode on, I can only blast the latest Dolby Atmos or DTS:X spatial audio releases with the cleanest sound designs at this volume. With lessor tracks (the Dragon will reveal to you which ones they are), and with DTS HD-Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD channel-based tracks, I either scale the volume back to a max of 25 or turn Inferno Mode off depending on the source. In general, I ride with Inferno Mode on, and simply bathe in high-quality, bass-grounded, immersive audio bliss. The Dragon is an unapologetically expensive surround sound system, but Nakamichi more than delivers the goods by way of design, performance, and power. For my money, the Dragon not only looks amazing, but 11.4.6 channels driven by up to 3000 watts are all the channels and peak power I expect I'll ever need in a home theater. And the Pro Cinema Engine, anchored by Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Pro, makes the best use of those drivers and power that I've ever heard at home. The Nakamichi Dragon is, by far, the best home theater sound system I've over owned. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Hear comes the Boom
Good bye theaters! This system is in a galaxy all it's own. No more people distracting me from enjoying anything that I'm watching ever again. From lifelike crystal clear immersive sound to earth shaking bass, for a home system, this one is in a galaxy all it's own. It's easy to set up, but you will need space, it's not a small system. You will love this system. it's worth the money.

Dragon with 12" Subwoofers far exceeded my expectations
After years of searching for a true home theater experience without the hassle of a full installation, I was skeptical that any soundbar could deliver. Previous attempts with other popular soundbars, including the Sonos Arc and Samsung Q990D, left me disappointed. They simply couldnโt match the power and clarity of my $22K dedicated theater setup. Then I tried the Nakamichi Dragon, and I was blown away. I recently moved into a new house in Vegas and put together a 9.2.6 system in my 30L x 22W home theater room. My setup includes a Denon AV1H receiver with all Wharfedale EVO speakers, totaling well over $20,000. While Iโm thrilled with the theater room, my wife and I wanted something simpler for the living roomโsomething accessible enough for family nights and entertaining guests, but powerful enough to impress. After the Sonos and Samsung didnโt meet our standards, I gave the DRAGON a shot, and Iโm extremely glad I did. The Dragonโs unique AMT tweeters were a gamechanger for me. They deliver an unmatched clarity that brought me back to my Wharfedale setup. Unlike other soundbars, this Nakamichi system uses AMTs in both the main bar and surrounds, making vocals razor sharp and effects incredibly immersive. Installation took only 30 minutesโno tangled wires or need for professional help. Despite my living roomโs slightly vaulted ceilings and open layout, the Dragon adapted beautifully, filling the room with deep, rich sound. The first movie we watched was Mad Max: Fury Road with Atmos. It was as if Max himself was stomping right next to usโso powerful, you could almost feel the crunch beneath his boots. Every moment comes alive, from the thunderous bass to the crystal clear dialog, and the precision of the surround effects makes it feel like youโre in the center of the action. I tested this system with reference movies like Edge of Tomorrow, Gravity, Dunkirk, and Pacific Rim. The Dragon didnโt just hold its ownโit soared. Explosions shook the room, eerie silences felt thick with tension, and the chaotic dogfights were delivered with pinpoint accuracy. The Dragonโs six upfiring height speakers add a whole new layer to the experience, creating height effects that feel truly spectacular. With Atmos soundtracks, these speakers bring an immersive vertical layer that feels incredibly lifelike. During scenes in Gravity, for instance, I could hear debris whizzing overhead with precision, as though it were truly happening above me. In Pacific Rim, when the Jaegers and Kaiju clash, the sound fills the entire room from top to bottom, making each battle feel epic. The upfiring speakers work seamlessly with the rest of the system, allowing you to feel sounds soaring above, whether itโs the swoop of helicopters in Dunkirk or the echoing footsteps in a cavernous environment. For a soundbar system to recreate this level of height and depth so close to the performance of my full Atmos setup is remarkable. The systemโs performance is on par with setups costing several times more. Now, weโre spending over 70% of our movie time in the living room with the DRAGON. With technology like this, Iโm confident that the DRAGON will set the standard for home theater sound for years to come. For anyone looking to invest in a sound system that wonโt need an upgrade anytime soon, this is it. The Nakamichi DRAGON has redefined what I thought a soundbar could do, delivering an immersive, powerful, and refined experience. If youโre on the fence, donโt be. The DRAGON will be the benchmark for soundbars for years to come. I am very tempted to add two more 12โ subwoofers, but the only challenge is finding the space - because the sound is already massive.

Dragon Roars ๐
I purchased Dragon with 12 inch sub as an upgrade. You need patience in setting it up.But once you set it up dragon roars. I have old 2016 curved samsung tv which supports only ARC.I had issue with connecting my amazon firestick and it was not working and its sounds very normal with no surround.I lost hope and planned to return it back, But then started trying out trouble shooting provided in manual and also reached support for help in email. The support technician is very knowledgeable and provided apt response.which fixed the issue. I live is a small apartment and initially was hesitant to buy 12 inch sub but the calibration and voulme controll helped me to tune it accordingly to the living space. I really like they way I can control volume of each speakers and calibrate it accordingly.Even any video in YouTube sounds magic with surround sound.Of course the dolby and atmos content are excellent and outstanding. It provides 2 favorite setting modes, which you can save personalized settings , I tuned it one for my family which will trun off one sub and another one will have both the subs on and blast.Night modes are very effective when you stay in an apartment and still enjoy movie nights.I am very happy with my purchase ๐
