Once a month our kettle gets a descaling. The 'Oust Powerful All Purpose Descaler, Limescale Remover' for kettles etc. as advertised, does the job. ( It does advertise for descaling Irons, tried it once, and found it takes a little longer to get it right first time...beware ! But it's as easy as 1-2-3 for use on our kettle ! ). The content is a caustic liquid content for descaling certain household items including kettles, irons, etc. as advertised on the packaging. Good value for money, keeps our kettle in tip-top shape concerning descaling, and is a firm fixture in our household once a month on the kettle - or should that be 'in the kettle' ?...ha ha ha ! Use with caution, and read the instructions before use ! If you aren't sure, seek advice on how to use - it is a caustic content ! Not to be used by minors, or kept within reach of minors ! ( I feel like a walking 'danger advert' ! ) But ! - It is very important to beware when using this product, read the instructions and warnings before use ! Very effective at removing scale from a kettle. Easy to use. Quite strong. Easy to use. No smell.

I have been using this to clean my kettle once or twice a year, using one single 25ml sachet. It is brilliantly effective and simple to use - just follow the instructions. I use bottled water in my kettle - I am not sure why, but I find that tea made with the local tap water has a strong and unpleasant after-taste (I drink my tea black with on milk or sugar). Coffee tastes fine, and the water tastes fine to drink straight from the tap (which I do). The bottled water probbly has a high mineral content, and it deposits solids in the kettle quite quickly. I have a couple of wire-descalers in my kettle and they gather up quite a lot of the solids that have precipitated out of the water. Oust cleans away all of the white material completely in about 10 minutes. My kettle has a hidden element, so a flat metal base to the inside, and a form of acrylic clear body. No visible damage to the kettle at all from the Oust. I have seen 25ml sachets of this and 50ml , and larger. This offerring contains 18 x 25ml sachets and represents amazing value for money. I find a single 25ml sachet is more than enough to clean all the material from my kettle and the 3 wire decalers that I have put inside. This is the only brand I ever use these days.

I find these great for cleaning the limescale out of my kettle. They are very effective and easy to use. It doesn't take long and my kettle is back to shining and clear of limescale afterwards.

Arrived quickly and well packaged, and great value for money. Unfortunately, we live in a very hard water area, and I envey those who live in the North of England and Scotland. I use this product mostly in my 2 kettles, when they have a lot of lime scale I use 2 pkts. The instructions are very easy to follow. Boil the water and make sure the kettle is not over filled. Pour the powder slowly into the kettle, I also have a device that collects the limescale that too needs to stay in the kettle. If the limescale is very stubborn I leave it over night in a basin. Then empty water and rinse out with freshly drawn water 2/3 times. Then the kettle is ready to use, and it's limescale free for a little while. It's horrible when you can taste the limescale particles in any hot drink. I sometimes drink hot water, in the colder weather, and to taste the limescale isn't very pleasant, so I know its time to descale the kettle.
