What was I thinking?!
What was I thinking, taking so long to get this!!? Our first meal we (me and my husband) prepared in our Instant Pot was a beef pot roast with carrots and potatoes. Prep time was a whole 15 minutes. That was just to get the veggies ready. Then we seared the pot roast in the Instant Pot. Super easy! The searing isn't something everyone does, so that's a good part of the prep time. Then the cook time was 40 minutes. That's it!! Dinner time! I will say, you don't smell the food cooking. That may be a plus or a minus, depending on how you're wired. I have fibromyalgia. Smells of foods cooking are NOT my friend. So not smelling the food until right before eating was a real blessing for me! Now, to the roast. It was so tender, we were able to cut it with a fork, and it was incredibly juicy! The vegetables cooked in the roasts juices, but they still tasted like themselves, and weren't overly mushy. I honestly didn't think it was possible to get a roast and veggies to cook the same amount of time and both come out perfectly, but they did! I've yet to try all the other features. When I've done more with my Instant Pot, I'll do an update here. So far we are just using it for meals, but I feel like it pays for itself so quickly. An hour is a short amount of time to wait for a meal (for us). Being on the go so much, it's gotten to be a bad habit to just pick up fast food. Now, we just throw some good, fresh ingredients in the Instant Pot, and it pretty much just fixes dinner for us, while we unwind. There is a minimal amount that needs to be done, depending on what we're fixing. No matter how you slice it, nothing compares to a home cooked meal, especially one that can cook so quickly an doesn't need to be watched over. Both my husband and myself are wondering why he didn't get this sooner!! So far we've got no negatives at all. It does what's it's supposed to, exactly like it's supposed to.

So far so good!
I love my old instant pot, so when I was looking for a new one and saw that the version with the air fryer lid I was sold (after reading some reviews to make sure it wasn't terrible lol). I've been wanting an air fryer but couldn't justify another appliance when I wasn't sure I would use it that often. I like the display, although I miss being able to hit the pressure cook button (or whatever setting you're using) to switch between three saved cook times and adjust from there, since pressure cooking times vary wildly. I do find adjusting the settings to be easier to figure out and more intuitive than the old "duo" version that I had, although setting the time from 5 minutes to 90 minutes by spinning the little dial is annoying. The air fryer works fine- I can't compare it to a stand-alone model since I've never used one, but I made asparagus on the bottom rack and halibut on the top rack made with an egg wash, then a seasoned flour and Parmesan coating and both came out great. Nice and crispy compared to what I would have gotten in the oven. I can also see myself using the sous vide option occasionally. I sous vide very infrequently by heating water to temp, then putting the pan in the oven on the lowest temp and monitoring the digital thermometer I use. Without a circulator, I expect the sous vide function is probably about the same level of effectiveness and accuracy, but easier. Maybe I'll do it more often now. If nothing else, I can use it to pasteurize eggs more easily for Caesar dressing and tiramisu. I can also see myself using the broil option occasionally. The instant pot is a pain to dig out since I keep it in the cupboard above my fridge, but if I already have it out it's probably quicker than the oven. I used to have a dehydrator and got rid of it because I have a smoker now, which is 100X better for jerky. But fresh herbs? Maybe! I usually freeze fresh herbs, but I've thought about making my own seasoning mixes with an old pepper mill I have laying around. ALSO, I have borosilicate dishes that I often use to make small loaves of banana bread. They will fit perfectly in the inner pot, so I'm going to see how the bake option works. It even came with a recipe for banana bread that made me think of it. I hate heating the full sized oven for 45+ minutes for one half sized loaf of banana bread! The air fryer lid is really a game changer. I'm excited to have a little mini convection oven with just a slightly larger footprint than before (having to store the lid). I considered getting the one with "the ultimate lid" that does everything, but the 8qt version is a must have for me, and it seems like it's just adding more things that can fail and making it more difficult to repair the lid and more expensive to replace if necessary.

Instant Gratification
My Ninja finally died. Got to researching a replacement. This "Instant Pot Pro" had the highest rating, and the price was reasonable for the quart size, and the many features this product has for cooking! I was amazed how heavy this is which tells me it is well built! I am very impressed with the quality of all aspects & including the components! It cooks very well. One example was the saute' mode. The heat produced was 5x hotter than my previous Ninja which made the process very fast. The controls (different from my Ninja) but once learned very easy to use. Highly recommend, get one!

Multifunction kitchen device that works? This must be 2020...
Grabbed this on black friday promo as it saved on counter space combining instant pot and airfrier. Haven’t trued the dehydrator, but both of its primary functions work well. Makes better rice than American rice cookers, but so so compared to a Zojirushi. Thanksgiving was easier with this as it saved over space and made air fried potato skins the MVP casserole topping and brussel sprouts crisp. Cleaning the air fry lid might be difficult one day, but didn’t seem to need much the first few weeks of repeated use. Also has slow cooker capability. Importantly, the bucket is stainless steel, so no teflon flakes to give you cancer when it inevitably starts flaking off. The air fry basket may have a teflon coating though, so be careful with washing it and poking contents during mid cycle turns. The interface is clunky, but better than having bluetooth and an app that stops working after the latest ios release and makes the thing stop working altogether after an unwanted or failed firmware update pushed out to better steal your personal info and sell it to advertisers. PSA: “smart” speakers or fridges or tvs are not smart to buy, particularly if they have no “dumb” or disconnected capabilities. If you do buy a smart device and keep it airgapped (offline) don’t let it ever connect as devices denied updates for a time may brick themselves when first connected years later because they attempt to jump through too many updates simultaneously. This killed a grandparent’s walmart tv in good working order after being plugged into ethernet for the first time post relocation move as the manufacturer had never considered a user going from firmware v 1.1 to 4.1 in one jump rather than 1 to 2 to 3 to 4. (Steps off soapbox). Yeah, this thing is worth it despite breaking some of Alton Brown’s kitchen device rules. Replaced my crock pot, rice cooker, lack of dehydrator, and lack of airfrier. Don’t make popcorn in it unless testing your smoke alarm or trying to get guests out of your house. Shouldn’t have to say this, but don’t dishwasher the electric parts like the frier lid.

This does just about everything.
Amazing. We upgraded from the Mini to the Pro Crisp and couldn't be happier. For one, it's got plenty of room for any basic meal. And you can make just about anything in it. It sautes, slow cooks, air frys, dehydrates, streams, cooks sous vide, and, of course, pressure cooks. And the inner pot is usable on the stove, so I have another stock pot when I need it. It's a bit different from other models with fewer built-in pre-sets that others have (for instance, there's no "rice," "porridge," or "chili" settings) but that's not a huge deal if you're not completely new to cooking. Highly recommend.

Versatile and Easy to Use,
Overall, I'm happy with this item. Took one star off because it seems heavier than other multicookers I have purchased and it's pretty bulky. Having said that, it is very versatile and does a great job. Pot roast was a breeze and done so quickly. It is easy to clean and comes with a separate fry basket and fry lid. Can't wait to use for a fish fry. Accompanying instructions are easy to follow. Definitely a great way to make meals easier and fast.

Best addition to my kitchen, and certainly beats a stand-alone air fryer, too!
I had a different brand of a pressure cooker, but knew there was a lot of hubbub about Instant Pots and their new air fryer lids. My friend mentioned there was this newer model that doubled as an air fryer / roaster, and I got one! This machine is incredible, I'm being honest. We roast vegetables for almost every dinner and this air fryer lid shaves half the time off of that process and doesn't make the entire kitchen hot. Our oven takes about 10-12 minutes to get to the right temperature, then roasts for 20 minutes, then takes another hour to cool down. The air fryer option on the Instant Pot takes about 2 minutes to heat up, only needs to cook for about 10-12 minutes tops, then cools down very quickly. It's truly a fraction of the time and frees up the oven for the main course! So far we've loved it for cooking carnitas and then crisping with the lid once done, making delicious one-pot pasta meals and broiling the cheese on top, or making some nice stews / other dishes. I'm extremely, EXTREMELY impressed with the Duo Crisp. Pressure cookers are great to begin with, but having the simple addition of the air frying lid is just a total game changer for us. I also didn't realize that stand-alone air fryers are rather expensive, so this machine being able to do both pressure cooking AND air frying for us for less than the cost of a big air fryer has been amazing. I cannot recommend this machine enough! We've had it a month and use it about 5-7 times a week at the moment. It's also helpful for getting roasted vegetables at lunch as it's so quick about cooking. I'll update in a few months or a year on how it's doing - but I'd buy this again a few times with how useful it is! If you're on the fence - don't be. Just get it - you will be happy!

Cooker I Actually Love Using
I received this instapot/air fryer 8 qt. It is massive but I needed something this size. I used it the first day I got it. I cooked 1 pot spaghetti in it. Three spaghetti turned out great. I forgot to season the meat, because I was so excited about getting it in. It cut my cut time in half. The only thing was coming the hamburger meat with the airfryer. It cooked the meat but it browned it to much. Next time I will try cooking it on another setting. I haven't found anything that I don't like about it yet. The size is great for my size family, it cools great for the first time using it. I will try other settings to see how it works with the dehydrator, the pressure cooker, and the other settings. I will update on those and how i like them.

I can never go back to a life without this!
Has honestly changed my life. Everything I could have hoped for and more. The fact that in can do so much is so impressive and appealing to me. Just looking at it brings me a lot of joy, I prefer the black design, screen and buttons over the Duo model. It can be a bit of a hassle to clean sometimes, but I remedy that by using parchment or aluminum foil if I'm using the air fryer option, makes it so I only have to one pot instead of two. I'm quite busy everyday with work that I can't often cook all my meals. I often get takeout. But the convenience of the Instant Pot means I've basically cut off all takeout. There's so many recipes that are just dump and go. And even the ones that aren't feel so much easier. A manual pressure cooker is kinda scary, much more of a hassle in my opinion. This feels ultra safe. The pressure release mechanism on this model is a big reason why I bought it. I love that it auto-seals, and I love the switch. Additional note: I've seen videos of the creator of the Instant Pot, and he seems like such a nice man. That also contributed to me buying it :)

Excelente

You need an air fryer in your life.
For a long time I was against these gimmicky air fryers, because "why just not use the oven"? And sure you can, it will do pretty much the same thing, BUT...an air fryer is SO MUCH easier to cook with! It heats up in no time (as opposed to a giant oven), and food cooks quicker in it too, likely because of its smaller size compared to an oven. I consider myself an Instant Pot "pro", and already had 2 in my kitchen, the Duo 6qt and 8qt...and finally decided to get this Pro Crisp and replace my existing 8qt Duo with it. Smart decision as this Pro Crisp gives me a new type of kitchen appliance without sacrificing any more counter space! I like the new pot with handles, much easier to take it out after cooking. It cleans very easily too. Just pour some water in it and clean it right away, or let the water sit and clean it later - don't let the food weld itself into the pot! It comes with an additional inner pot for air frying, but I never use it...don't see the point. All it does is reduce the internal volume of the main pot and it's one more extra thing to clean. Instead I use a steam basket...or simply throw food right in the main pot. However, if you throw it straight in the pot, it will fry in its own juices and won't come out as crispy (but will come out more juicy)..which might not be a bad thing, it really depends on what you're going for. I enjoy doing it both ways. The new pressure cooking release valve is A LOT quieter than the one on the Duo. It doesn't shoot up into the air like a raging locomotive anymore. That's nice if you cook late at night and don't want to wake anyone up in the house. Yes, you do need to mix food for more even frying, but you do that usually just once. Ideally, you don't want to overload it with so much food that it stacks on top of itself. You can still do, but might need to mix it an extra time. It can also dehydrate, but I don't care for this as I already have a dedicated, proper dehydrator. Keep in mind that when you dehydrate, you absolutely can't stack food on top of itself, or else it will never fully dehydrate. With the Pro Crisp you can only dehydrate a tiny amount as you only get a single tray to lay your food on. This air fryer looks beautiful and modern. It's seems to be the same size as the Duo 8qt, except that it's quite a bit taller with the air fryer lid. It's very easy to use, I just really wish they would have the 3 different time adjustments for each program, as they do on the Instant Pot Duo. If I'm pressure cooking beans, the time will depend on the type of bean it is. With this I need to constantly set the time manually, where with my Instant Pot Duo I can just cycle through 3 preset times I have set. I don't feel it's big enough of a problem to take down a star overall, but something to be aware of. Once you buy it, you will be experimenting a ton with all your regular meals. In the picture I have pressure cooked quinoa (in the 6qt Duo) and air fried (separately) mushrooms and tofu, topped with some greens. Barely use the stove/oven anymore. Even microwave sees less action as you can easily reheat food in the air fryer AND fry something fresh at the same time!
