Great kit
This has everything you need to start. It's a nice little kit, a bit pricey, but everything bought separately would be pretty similar. This would also make a good gift for someone who wanted to start out, it's pretty easy to use.

Nice but not a replacement for a true airlock
I'm giving this a positive but not glowing review. They are better than nothing but not as good as a true airlock.I've used them mostly for brewing small batches of tepache, which is a lightly fermented drink made from the leftovers after cutting up a pineapple. The initial air vacuum is an interesting step. You can actually see the air being pulled out of the pineapple chunks. This is nice because it removes the initial oxygen and slows down the tepache potentially turning into vinegar. That vinegar is tasty but not what I'm going for in this review. So, that initial draw is good and the hole in the nipple does a pretty good job of keeping air from getting back in. But, again, not as good as an airlock.I noticed what happens is that the moist fermenting air gets humid the space *around* the nipple starts to bubble up. So, there is a large air gap around that area. Again, better than nothing but not air-tight.In the end, the tepache has turned out nice and is more resistant to the vinegar bacteria because they're not getting oxygen. But if your recipe relies on a complete seal, this probably isn't the product you want. Finally, I'll say that I do still like the product. It's just important to keep in mind what it is and, especially, what it isn't. Don't expect it to keep the interior atmosphere and exterior completely separate after the initial air draw.Final Verdict: Approved. Just make sure this is good for your needs.

Good set - but expensive canning jars
This is an interesting approach to using canning jars for fermentation, and the kit has everything you need to get started making small batch sauerkraut or other fermented veggies. From the point of view of, "Does this kit do what it promises, is it a good approach to fermenting, and would I like to keep using it?" this kit is five stars. It includes weights, containers, lids, and a vacuum pump - everything you need except veggies and salt. It has good instructions, and everything is easy to use. I'm a little concerned about crusting up of the silicone valve during an active ferment but so far no problem and if it turns out to be an issue I'll update this review. From the point of view of "is this a good value?", I'm confused by the price. It's $60 as I write this review. That's pretty expensive. Worse, this same brand sells a kit with 3 lids, 3 weights, and the same vacuum pump for half the price. The only thing missing is three wide mouth canning jars, which as I write this you can get 12 of here on Amazon for $30. So for $60 I can get this set, or I can get the three pack of lids and weights plus a 12 pack of canning jars (except I wouldn't because I already own canning jars) and end up with an extra fermenter plus a bunch of spare jars. I don't understand why I would spend the $60 on this kit.I'm leaving the review at 5 stars because prices change and for some people this kit might be the better choice, plus I like how the fermenters themselves work. But if it was my money I would buy the 3 pack that has everything except the jars.

Great, small batch fermenter
This set comes with two 32oz jars which is a good size for testing recipes before making a larger batch.I particularly like the fact that this kit comes with glass weights to hold whatever you are pickling submerged in the brining liquid. The caps allow for both removal of excess air (with the included vacuum pump) to help prevent spoilage as well as let built up gasses out during the fermenting process. It is an excellent beginners kit and the caps will fit on pretty much any size wide mouth Mason-style jar, so making a larger 64oz batch is easy. Another nice thing is that the caps have a month and day dial that you can set to let you know when you put it up to ferment, or if you wish, when it should be done.I have a batch of Kimchee going right now, and I check on it daily. So far, absolutely no problems.

Everything you need for good fermenting in one kit.
This kit has everything you need for good fermenting in one kit. It includes 2 32oz. Mason jars, 2 Easy Fermenter lids, 2 glass weights, and the oxygen extractor pump. If you have some peppers from the garden, water, and salt, you can start making some hot sauce. All the right tools are here, and based on my own experience, these are the best tools. Chop up your peppers and put them in the jar, then put the glass weight on top of them. Mix your salt and water to make the brine and add it to the jar, leaving about an inch of head space at the top. Make sure everything is being held below the brine by the weight and seal the lid. Set the date on the lid and then use the pump to extract the oxygen from within the jar. Set it aside for at least a month and let it ferment. You just started your first batch of hot sauce. It sounds easy because the tools in this kit make it much easier. The lid and pump make it much less likely that you will have an issue with mold, which makes your success almost assured. Even if you are a newbie. The kit also includes a recipe book to give you some basic instructions and ideas on the various possibilities.I would agree that the price seems kind of high (currently around $60), but you're paying for convenience. Someone else put these tools together in one place for you. If you put in the work yourself, yes, you can save some money buying things individually on your own. If you just want a fast start, this kit can give it to you.

Great starter set
This fermenting kit has everything I need to get started. Everything fits perfectly together and works exactly as described. It even came with a little recipe book that has some simple and tasty recipes in it. This would be a great set to get anyone started in fermenting who has been thinking about it and would be the perfect thoughtful gift for someone who has any interest in fermenting.
