NOT good for use with an Akitio Thunder 2 eGPU Setup
Here's the thing, this products worked perfectly. It does what it is meant to do (at least it did for me). However, if you want to use this to power an external GPU for a laptop, you are out of luck. Notice that it only has a positive pin going to the molex connector... This means that the power adapter will only function properly if the riser is plugged into a motherboard along with the PSU and GPU to create a complete circuit. I found this out the hard way, unfortunately. However, this did work when I plugged it into my motherboard, so it does what it is designed to do, thus the rating. If you are looking for a good riser for your Akitio eGPU setup, I recommend you go with either of the following:Powered Pci Riser: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QBYOLIQ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1Molex to Barrel Plug: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0121QHR2E/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2Both will work well for powering your eGPU. In general, if you can fit your card into the Akitio or you have no problems modifying it, I recommend you go with the barrel plug to avoid possible signal degradation. However, so long as you purchase a high quality riser, you should be fine either way.

Not for gaming.
Eh. Ended up taking it out. Used it to put some more space between my GPU's to allow for better air flow and ended up having system hangs and what not. I verified that all of the connections were secure and snug, but I'm also not the first to have this problem with these cables. It would only hang when the GPU was under heavy use. I run two gtx780 in SLI and this was on the PhysX card and the system would hang up randomly in a game from 30 seconds to 2 hours into the game. Removed the ribbon cable and changed nothing else and hasn't had a hang sense. All at stock clocks.

Stay away from this riser
I purchased this riser for a custom build in a custom case I made. The length was perfect and looked really nice. When i powered my system on is when everything went down hill.Like I said. It looks really nice, and the length is really nice. It also has shielding on each side of the pci express connectors.Well it may looks nice, but DO NOT BUY. When i powered on my PC as a test (The motherboard was perfect before hand) I heard a pop, and smoke starting coming. I quickly unplugged the motherboard, but obviously my motherboard was toast. I tried to contact the seller about this, and I received no response about it. STAY AWAY

Poor quality. I used this for mining when I was a newbie. It is made with hot glue and tape. Also, the ribbon cable is not very long.I switched to PCIe powered USB risers. Much better quality especially the newer version 6. The USB cable is 24 inches long so they allow for me to space out my GPUs for better airflow and cooler temperatures.

Great
Works perfectly with my second gtx 560. Only complaint is that neither ends of the connector have a meconism to hold it in place, so it is very easy for the connectors to slide out and disconnect. Still, a powered connecter like this is your best option for extending a graphics card

Decent Riser
Works very well with no issues. I just wish it was a bit longer and had a more positive click in to the slot.

Three Stars
Not as flexible as I thought, ended up being a very tight fit in my build.

Gets the job done.
I use this on my mining rig and so far so good. Yes, the blue plastic "tape" feels like cellophane, but it's holding just fine. There's not much else to say other than I would use this again.
