I like this book
I like this book. There are good descriptions of everyday life, how people lived, worked, their housing, sleeping, eating etc just the type of things we use everyday. You get a good picture of what it might have been like living in one of their homes with them. This picture of the book shows it with a dust cover. If mine came with one, the thing developed wings and flew away. Otherwise I am satisfied with it. I have a feeling this book was a customer's return, then was sent to me without the pretty dust cover.

Interesting & Informative
I am enjoying reading this book and the pictures are helpful also. It is interesting to see how people lived back in Bible times. I don't have a lot of free time so I like to pick it up and read at least a few pages at a time. I do think I would have liked the paperback better but this one was a good buy. Denise Massey

Harper's Encyclopedia of the Bible
This is a very well written book on the life of of the people who we read about in the Bible. It can be a little dry at times reading about very detailed life in ancient times and how they struggled but overall a very good reference for your library. The photos are in black and white.

Has some good thoughts
I will use it as a study tool. However, I have not yet decided how I will merge it into my current study process.

DISAPPOINTING
It's comprehensive to a point, however, while trying to portray an "unbiased" view of Biblical life, the use of the term "STONE AGE MEN" and "PREHISTORIC" references in certain places, clearly showing the authors' belief in the evolutionary faith. As such discrediting the advanced knowledge of early Biblical inhabitants especially those of pre-flood Genesis and afterwards (i.e. Solomon, Nimrod, etc.).Here is a quote "...THE FORMATION OF CAVES THROUGH HEAVY SEASONAL RAINS, PROVIDED STONE-AGE MEN WITH INNUMERABLE CAVE SHELTERS...EVEN WITH PRIMITIVE HAMMERS AND CHISELS, THE MAN OF PRE-HISTORY IN PALESTINE COULD CHIP OFF THE INSIDE WALLS OF A CAVE AND TRANSFORM A SHELTER INTO A HOME."I also found the photos of very low quality and they are in black & white, making it very difficult to decipher the contours of what should be depicted, especially of cave &/or stone images. This was another big disappointment... however the cover is of good quality :-/

An eye opener
I love this book. My eyes have been opened. I do not regret buying it. Helps me understand the Bible more by taking me back to that era.
