If you buy a toaster, do you expect to have to register it before you can use it?If you buy a refrigerator or a microwave or a fryer, do you epect to have to register it somewhere before you can use it?That's what you get if you buy this.If you think you're just buying a piece of hardware, you'd be wrong. You have to register the appliance and accept terms of service (i.e. they reserve the right to abuse your priviacy) in order ot get any use out of it.

I bought this almost 18 months ago - it was not an easy task to get it working but now it has stopped working all of its own accord.It asked me to register the device and when I do that it says already registered. When I try to get support I am asked if I am a reseller or to go to the seller which in this case is Amazon. If Zxytel don't want to support Amazon clients then please say so.5 months ago my content filtering on the device stopped working as well asking me to re register - well I tried but could not get a license from anyone for the filter.Zxytel - don't sell products you are not prepared to support - there is no point

Review of Zyxel VPN2SThe buggy firmware & web interface will waste your time. Save time and money by spending a little more on something that works.Starting it up for the first time you'll notice that it takes minutes to boot.After almost any change of page in the configuration menus, a spinning disk appears in the centre of the browser page - presumably to let the user know that it has not completely crashed. You may then be dumped back to the login page, rather than the page you were trying to get to. At this point, logging in again may not work, with a valid and accepted login leading directly back to the login page. Some changes cause the device to completely stop responding to web interface requests, requiring reboot, or even full configuration reset, and starting again.After geting past an EULA screen and registration nagware, the web interface asks to update the firmware, but the builtin firmware URL is invalid - so I updated using a local copy of latest firmware. Again stunningly slow. The update wasn't any less flakey.

You cannot use port forwarding with this device. The feature does not work. Tried the latest firmware - still broken. Port 80 and 443 are reserved for managing the device, and other port numbers do nothing.The interface is painfully slow, and the opening screen spends 80 percent of the time loading or refreshing a dashboard, so the system is almost completely unresponsive. Each of the firewall modules appears to be completely stand alone. DNS, Dhcp, Hosts List, Rules - they don't talk to each other at all. No information on the net to try and resolve these issues. How can zyxel get away with selling this brick? It's going back. I'm disgusted.

Overall was a good product but after only a year Zyxel announced it was no longer supported and disabled the content filter, tried to upsell me another model. You get one year free subscription but then you cannot update or buy a license for the content filter for the VPN2s. The description is misleading and one year after buying this it will be a paperweight. Buyer beware.
