I worried a little to order a hat online and assumed it would arrive smooshed but it was fabulous! Beautiful color purple and it’s kind of iridescent so depending how the light hits it, it looks purplish pink. It’s also a bit sheer so it’s perfect for spring and summer events.For me, I needed it to attend a purple- themed funeral so I may end up sending it back or just wear to the luncheon afterwards instead of the service itself because it is a bit poofy and gives fun but not somber. Most of all, ‘hats off’ to the people who constructed this hat because it held up amazingly in the shipping process. Barely any fluffing needed out of the box. I could just open the box and wear it right away! I would say it’s a brunch, derby, high tea, or outdoor wedding hat but not a funeral hat.

Wore this with a monochromatic purple pant ensemble for the Easter Bonnet Parade in NYC. Got tons of compliments and requests to have my picture taken! I had it shipped directly from Amazon to my hotel. I spent about 5 minutes fluffing the bow and working the hat into shape by hand, which was enough to make it look good for an outdoor event where people were passing by (versus sitting together indoors and looking closely).

Great hat for Kentucky Derby party. Really lightweight especially for those of us in the south, doesn’t make you sweat. Looked fantastic.

Love this hat and the bright colors. The only downside is it should have been packaged better for mailing and I had to spend a lot of time re-shaping it. (To do so, I puffed up the bows and stuffed the bow loops with paper and sprayed spray starch on it to set).

The thing about this hat is that it arrives in a box that is about 2 inches tall. Seriously. I did not read all of the reviews--some of them warned of this. This hat has to be manually revived before you can actually wear it, and it takes a lot of careful pruning with a hair dryer (I don't own a steamer) to get it to relax. It never did really look like the picture on Amazon. I ended up melting the glue holding on the feathers and ribbon (I over-did the heat with the hair dryer) but used hot glue to put it all back. I am not wearing this hat for the purpose I bought it--it is just too messy and never looked like what I expected. If you have the time, patience, and tools to revive this hat from shipping, then it is probably a good deal.

The hat comes packed flat in a plastic bag. That was a surprise. It's not coming to you fluffed up and tall as seen in the picture. You will have to press it with an iron to make it look right. That includes putting the hat on an ironing board and pressing the entire inside head portion, which is mashed down, and the brim. The ribbons don't get really tall as you see in the photo, but that's OK. It is a fairly well made hat, so the overall effect is good. It's a great Derby hat for that special event at a great price point.
