Pit Card Game is one of the newer card game I recently purchased for my game night parties. This game can play up to 8 and really is good for people who may not be into strategic board games or if you don't have time for something longer. It plays quickly and can get quite rowdy. I would compare this type of game more to Taboo or Cranium as opposed to Settlers or Dominion or Powergrid. But nonetheless, its a good game to have in the collection. Also portable so in case you want to take it on a road trip or play it while drinking, I think this game would be perfect. Does not come with the call bell which is required to play the game.

It is a fun game for the whole family. Do need a sizable group to play.

Pit is a wonderful party game for people age 5 through adult. It is patterned after the trading floor of the stock exchange. You try to get nine cards -- "corner the market" -- of the same suit by trading with the other players. The fun part is that you don't take turns; everybody trades at once by calling, "two, two!" or "four, four!" or whatever number of cards they want to trade. It usually gets very noisy and exciting.If you played the game years ago, as I did, you will notice one important change. The suits are no longer different types of grain: wheat, corn barley, etc. Now they are cocoa, platinum, gold, cattle, oil, rice, silver and gas. This is probably a good change, because now it's easy to distinguish the different suits by their pictures, whereas in the old deck (mine, at least) the pictures were identical and only the writing was different. This makes it easier for young children or people with vision problems. Also there is one more suit, so now you can play with a maximum of eight players.I found it interesting that the most valuable suit is not gold, but cocoa -- must have been disigned by a chocoholic!The new deck includes a "corner" card which is not necessary and just gets in the way.

This game is a classic that I remember from when I was a kid 35 years ago. One of my favourite birthday parties included Pit as the entertainment. 8 kids having the time of their lives pretending to be in a commodity trading pit.It's great for adults too. Another bonus is almost nobody knows about this game and after playing it they'll be talking about it for days.Pit is simple, easy to learn and a blast. Be ready for a shot of adrenaline because I've witnessed the calmest people in the world shout out loud when they win.
