This oxidation process (as I understand it) releases sulfur that has a distinct smell some find distasteful. To me, it means RELIEF for my aching joints! So when others complain that the metal is SOFT, LIGHT, BENDS EASILY, TARNISHES QUICKLY, and STINKS, I say “GREAT-JUST WHAT I NEED!!!” These “side effects” are easily remedied by emersion in lemon juice or vinegar until they return to your desired color. They are attractive, each having a unique design that compliments the others in the set of four. I have very big wrists with protrusions from calcium deposits, so the open back style and bendability are a must. I am so happy with these I purchased another set so I will personally never run out and I can give them as gifts to other arthritis suffers.
