This is a second brand of bamboo salt I purchased to test out the taste between brands. KLava has a milder taste than the other 9x Purple bamboo salt I purchased on Amazon. The mild flavor may be more tolerable to individuals not familiar with a strong umami taste. And, KLava is sold at a slightly lower price point. I think the lower price might have to do with the packaging. The other brand comes in a glass container. However, I prefer transferring my salts and spices to my own glass spice jars and grinders. Therefore, this brand of bamboo salt (9X Purple) is my number 1 pick as of Sept 2024.

Lots of reviews here complaining about the taste. Yes, it does have a distinct egg-yolk taste to it....... but that's because it is Korean Bamboo salt, that is the taste it is SUPPOSED to have. Giving a product a bad review because something that taste's like its supposed to and you don't like that taste is pretty silly. Its like complaining your beef tastes like beef when you wanted it to taste like chicken. With all of that said, for me, the taste of Korean bamboo salt is a little much for me personally. It is strong enough that replacing "regular" salt with it in the vast majority of recipes is probably a mistake. It still a very interesting thing to try, and makes for a fun talking piece with guests if you understand how this stuff is made and can speak to it.

Wow, this salt is absolutely delicious! I did not expect such rich flavor. It has umami, smokiness and sulfur notes all combined together and it’s very yummy. I take a few granules in my mouth and let it dissolve on my tongue to absorb the minerals. I don’t add it to food. Highly recommend!
